No Pakistani pilot was shot down by an Isreali or Russian pilot – FACT

OK, theres been alot of talk here.
Just to clarify a few points.

    Harry
Whose pilots have shot down more of the others in air to air combat? If we are talking about pilots skills and how “crap” certain natiosn are, then I would day thats a pretty good “Key Perfromance indicator”.

    Lets talk numbers here.

In every case PAF has shot down more of the enemy then it has lost. Thats a proven historical fact.

Indian, Isreali and Russian pilots have suffered. We are an “equal opportunities” air force. Does not matter what race or religion you are, we are happy to shoot you down. 😉

Now I belive every online and offline source concedes PAF shot down more aircraft then it lost.

Remember, the discussion is “pilot skill” here.

The news on teh Gwalior exercise was posted a full 2 months before any Indian or western news source mentioned it. Unless someone has a crystal ball, that woukld mean a pretty accurate source in my opinion.

My point remains, everything written on the net is hearsay and hard to prove.

As someone pointed out, it would be really nice for this thread to get back on track.

    Nick,oh my dear Nick.
You are so right, how I yearn for thos PAF servicability reports! 😉

The Pakistani military keep these classified, so they may be worse or better the the IAFs. Thats a very valid point, however, last time I checked the totle of this thread it was “IAF News and discussion”, nay!?

It may suprise you to learn I have no hatred of your nation or people.

    Facts are facts though.

No, lets be accurate here. AFM MAY of picked up the low Bison servicability story from ToI. the Massive Jag and Mig-27 is fresh news, from AFM!

Yes, I live in London. Yes, my home is in rural Punjab. Where do you reside now we are on that topic?

Lets look at air to air combat kills in 1971 and 1965. PAF comes out top. Yes or no?

.mil addy? is that the best you have?

I can post the comments of a genuine RAF pilot that several people on thir forum know who is from 43 sqd and went to Gwalior. I choose not too and it would start one massive flame war on just how bad a certain air force was.

My point? Opions are like a&&holes. Everyone has one!

Not only are 90 Jags and 110 MiG-27s out of service, but so are the MiG-23BNs, Su-30s, Mirage-2000s and MiG-29s. At present, the IAF is flying Super Dimonas because its entire fleet is grounded and even their serviceability is just 28%. Isn’t that what you wanted to hear? Move on.

The first two upgraded units (C-2777 and C-2769) flew on 6 October 1998 in Russia and were back in India by July 2001, after which upgradation started at HAL following the supply of the first kits in 1999, with CU-2794, being the first HAL upgraded airframe and flying on Aug 31 2001. CU-2782 was the first series production Bison. 94 MiG-21bis had been upgraded to Bison standards by Jan 2006, according to the HAL MD, KP Puri.

    Harry
Sarcasm does not help the IAF. Who knows the genuine state of affairs, afterall, the organisation is run by professional officers, but if the AFM report is true, then I for one would be asking serious questions about the manufacturing/logistics benhind the Jaguar/MIG-27 fleet. Its fair to say the IAF Ground crew officers and Jawans try their best.

If true, and remember the BBC report backing this up, then people need to be taken to account. Their is no shame in this, but whoever leads the way will be doing a great service to IAF Jaguar and MIG-27 crews.

O you can just bury your head in the sand, in which case, the only victor , I am afraid to say, will be my nations Air Force.

Put up the figures for the PAF & PAC Kamra, then lets see..:p

your love/obsession with our air force is touching, no, really, it is! I can feel the love. Lets chat about it in the PAF thread, right now though, the very people who own this forum publish the fact that 200 IAF strike aircraft have major technical problems. If that is true, would you not say you guys are at a MAJOR disadvatge if war was declared!? Dont get me wrong, Mirages 2000s, MIG-29S and SU-30s are excellent platforms.

But 90 Jags and 110 MIG-27s effectively out of service!?

    😮

Quite revealing- the posts by Steve_Davies in particular. Talk about the law of unintended consequences, the genius who opened the thread seems to have got some answers which he would have preffered he didnt.

    ha ha

if i were to post every forum comment by people who are pilots describing the IAF, this would turn into the longest thread on the forum. Lets stick to fact and people who can comment on the record. If you would like me to post comments on how good so and so air force air and how crap so and so air force is, it would be my pleasure.

Mind you, we could also look at number of planes shot down in combat or we can look at anonymous forum postings! Whaddya reckon Nick!?

    Chinese precision-guided gliding bomb revealed

The image has been revealed on the Chinese Military Aviation website which says the weapon was first revealed this month and is apparently in the 500kg class.

The bomb has what are presumably foldable wings, and cruciform tail surfaces for guidance, giving a possible stand-off range of tens of kiometres depending on launch altitude. Conceptually it closely resembles the US Longshot system used to give precision capability to dumb bombs.

It is uncertain how the bomb is guided but it could be able to use the US GPS or Russian Glonass satellite navigation systems – possibly with an eye to the export market.

China has itself long talked of developing an indigenous satellite navigation capability and is also a partner in Europe’s Galileo.

It would be interesting to compare the servicability rates of HAL built aircraft and foreign built aircraft.

Surely IAF Personnel are responsible for all front and second line maintenence?

How would this little fishy compare!?
