the 1.42 was the demonstrator. The 1.44 should have been the production plane but never flew. Don’t know about Mig-39 (I thought it was an upgraded Mig-29)
Isnt it contrariwise? MiG 1.44 as demonstrator and 1,42 as production machine. Designation MiG-39 was reserved for this MFI production version.
Matej: you mean the HARV ?
No, I mean the project of which I posted the picture – equip F/A-18 with F-22 like 2D nozzles. HARV is not a true TVC and was never proposed for production machines. It is only makeshift experiment (also used on X-31).
Interesting idea was to equip F/A-18C with 2D thrust vectoring nozzles. Maybe they can use it once again :diablo:
Slovakia has some Mi-24D/DU/V helicopters. Czech republic operated Mi-24V, but they just bought some Mi-35.
Regarding to variants, I think that the latest are:
Mi-35VP – with another pair of R-60 anti aircraft rockets
Mi-35VPM/Mi-24VPM – interim helicopter fighter without radar with 30 mm cannon
Mi-24.10 Sinij Drakon – helicopter fighter with radar and with tail parts moved down
Mi-24VPI Karnozavr – battle dominance helicopter
Mi-24VPT Tirannozavr – special antitank version
Mi-24RKM Anakonda – stealthy reconnaissance craft
Mi-24.57 Gidra – experimental weapon platform (?)
Hey, hey, hey. Wait a minute. In this thread is mixture of S-54 and S-55 photos. S-54 is that with side air intakes under canards and two seat cockpit. It was one of Yak-130 trainer competitors. S-55 is very compact light fighter with one place cockpit and one Su-27 like air intake. It means that the first picture posted by franc also shows S-55.
how the Flag can blown if there is no air in the moon?
It cant blow, but it can move a little (for example during moonquake or because stardust impact) π
Original plan, presented at Australian Strategic Policy from 2nd December 1997, was to keep all F-111C/G in service till 2020 with new engines and new weapons (for example AGM-142E, GBU-31/32 JDAM, MK.83/BLU-110 and Mk.84/BLU-109, ASRAAM….) But they will be retired 10 years earlier.
Using F-14D as an interim solution is interesting idea, but not very realistic. Instead of it, they will buy new AGM-158 JASSM munition and integrate it with F/A-18A and AP-3C. RAAF is also going to buy 4 – 5 new tanker aircrafts to enlarge the range of F/A-18 fleet.
1) Tornado, F-4 Phantom and Eurofighter are the most famous
2) Luftwaffe is buying Eurofighters now, soon it will buy U(C)AS Taifun and I think that the next step will be Barracuda
3) All MiGs-29G/GT were transferred to Poland. Oficial delivery of them dated to 26. September 2003. First five machines flited from 731. Staffel (Laage AFB) at 30. September (29+07, 29+11, 29+16, 29+17 single seat and 29+24 two seat), then at 11. December four another machines (29+06, 29+15, 29+19 single seat and 29+22 two seat). Next group leaved Germany at 14. April 2004 (29+02, 29+08, 29+14, 29+24). The last flit (09+01, 29+04, 29+05, 29+10, 29+12, 29+18, 29+20 single seat and 29+23, 29+25 two seat) was planned at 3. August, but because the bad weather they started one day later. In Germany is now only one unflyable MiG-29G 29+03 that was placed in Berlin in Gatow airport.
Interesting.

You forgot to post the most impressive KM picture. BTW, it is “korabl maket” (vehicle mockup) and not Caspian Sea Monster. I dont like this english garble π Instead of it, there is civil version Spasatel (Messiah if I am right).
what ever happened to the Ekip? That program looked really promising I remember they tested a scale model and it flew with better preformance than they expected.
After completing construction work on first prototype and preliminary flights, aviaton concern EKIP found strategic investor from USA. According to revised plan, by 2007 they are going to finish another three prototypes and serial production can start in 2010. The biggest version has 360 tons MTOW, wingspan of 102 m (!) and is able to transport 100 tons of cargo. The smallest EKIP AULA L2-3 is only two meters long and its MTOW is 350 kg. If you know Slovak language, you can read everyting here π : http://www.hitechweb.szm.sk/UFOpreprava5.htm
Publishing your photos in book – it means for profit – without permission is clearly defiance of copyright. From what you wrote, the best argument for you is that you have bigger originals then published in book. You can cut original picture, but to enlarge it is nearly impossible.
The most logical thing that you can now do is to write to the author and to the publisher that that are your photos and that you claim the axle. The best solution is to create some agreement to reclaim the situation. If they dont respond, then the more agressive solutions are appropriate.
Web is another thing. If we are talking strictly only about the law, it is the same. But usually when someone publish your photos on web without any profit, he can say, that it is for research purposes only and it is hard to resist. I want to say that publisnig on the web without profit has more tolerance in public.
Thanks Flex. I learned how to recognize Su-30 variants (for example Su-30MK has single front gear wheel, Su-30MKK has horizontaly ended vertical tail surface etc…), but it was problem to me to recognize plane on that video:
http://www.alexisparkinn.com/photogallery/Videos/2006-2-4_Sukoi_SU_30MK_in_Russia.wmv
My first thought was that it is really Su-30MK as the name suggests, but what misleaded me was the camouflage.
The Su-47 is believed to be the basis for the Sukhoi PAK FA design, albeit with a more conventional (read: non FSW) layout.
Sounds logical. The Su-47 is the only useable demonstrator for this kind of work. Of course, it is possible to use older plane for tests, but then it need more modifications.
Maybe out of topic but I want to ask, how to quick recognize Su-30MK against Su-35UB.
Nice to see, how it is growing. π
Merlock: I know that Leduc 022 flew π (as 010 and 021). Better to say: French designers probably like bizare concepts and some of them reached prototype stage…)
Now I am favorizing open transport aircraft, posted by fightingirish. Thats an… …an idea! π
Regarding to oblique wing planes, It will be good to mention current DARPA Switchblade program, that mainly Northrop is working on.
From “oldies” is not most bizare, but absolutely the most impressive Tarrant Tabor. As it was bad balanced, its designer W. G. Tarrant shortly before first flight filled the rear part of the fuselage with 500 kg of leaf (!!!). The first and only flight endured only a few seconds and ended after somersault with completly destroyed plane and completly killed crew.
Lastly one of my designs with great outlook…
A boiler? π
π π π Yes. Thats it… (great joke)
I am not so good in anti-aircraft systems, but I am sure that this is not Vera-E. Here you are some pics of it – its better than description by words. I thing that on your picture is Tamara (generaly predcessor ov Vera-E).
