nice picture, cries out for a few photoshoped ack ack bursts and bullet strikes on the grass behind the ersatz JU52!!!!

If you know the right shop to go to in Cambridge they wouldn’t have to be photoshopped. You want a crate of *day* flak simulators, a couple of boxes of the small maroons, a roll of telephone wire, a motorcycle battery, some gaffer tape & some 3in tubing to use to launch the flak sims.
The small maroons are about the size of a thimble & simulate bullet strikes in the dirt. 4v electric det.
The flak simulators look like lightbulbs. The spherical bit is the *effect* & the base bit is the launch charge. Also 4v eletric det.
Daytime ones have a bloody great BANG!! & a big cloud of black smoke. The night version trade the black cloud for an orange fireball.

They explode at about 500ft 😎

I have misused them more than a few times at parties & left attendees on the verge of PTSD.. altho I preferred the large maroons which are about 1.5in dia & 2.5in long. They simulate grenade strikes in dirt & will set off car alarms almost as efficiently as a Vulcan :diablo:

It goes without saying that a lot of my friends slept a lot better after I gave up my pyro licence 😀

Are the orange Wally Bibs because the camera folk are on a balcony or because they had to climb stairs to get there?

I can tell you where to find vast amounts of fired .303 bullets:

Beach on the N.E. corner of Whale Island/HMS Excellent in Pompey. No idea why they are there, but when I was a kid & my dad was a CPO Gunnery Instructor there I used to pick up HUNDREDS of them on a Saturday/Sunday morning. Place is probably still littered with them.

Other beaches on the island may also be littered with them, but I never checked elsewhere because it would have taken me months of weekends to pick up just the ones on that corner.

Access may be a bit tricky owing to the place apparently now being populated by RM’s…

Why are .303 (or any) fired aircraft cartridges so rare?
You would think millions were ejected all over Europe!

I’ve got a few thousand of them, & at one time some of them have been in the same hangar as a Spitfire. Does that count?

Oh, & mine are live rounds 🙂

When I lived in Cornwall one way to make a living in spite of the quotas was to sell the fish to the factory ships off the coast & then tie up in port with no fish. It was the difference between working all year or just a few weeks,….
