It did not have the dual control stuff when it first arrived at Duxford – when was it removed?

Maybe when it was at Chino? I seem to recall it going there before it left the US…
The dual set up was the same as in Montana Miss (ie, just enough to point it in the desired direction)

“As for differing standards in restoration and paperwork. Well I can think of at least one example of an aircraft coming to the U.K and being found somewhat wanting.”

Couldn’t agree more and it was a sobering experiance for them and has taken a long time to put right.

    Which one?

somewhat similar to putting a Subaru engine in a vintage Bentley or putting a Dart in a Spitfire.

    Or an Allison in a Yak…. πŸ˜€

Where’s the Destefani/MoF P47 these days? (yellow/black diamond nose). Last time I saw it fly I was at Willow Springs Raceway (near Mojave) when Bob Hannah beat the place up like it was going out of fashion….

Not to get off topic here….. but..
I know UK reg’d SeaFuries have to have the original engine, whereas a lot of US reg’d ones have R3350’s…. Can a R3350 engined/US reg’d SeaFury legally fly in the UK?
I was just wondering if it would be poss to throw a (US Reg’d as *experimental*) Beau into the air behind a pair of Pratts?

damn, I’ve only been hanging out at this board a week & I’m seriously thinking of going back to work at Van Nuys Airport LOL! (I currently build Shelby’s)

putting a Beaufighter in the air with the genuine motors is a herculean task.

Downloading crash photos for morbid curiosity is one thing. Trying to make a profit from them just isn’t morally right?

    Plazz

True, but I doubt anyone would have paid for em as they are readily available for free…. (those Iraqi beheading vid’s were a bit gruesome)

No, don’t think it ever had dual control, think it was just a jump seat.

I’ve worked on & flown in it when it was at Van Nuys, it had a stick, rudder pedals & throttle in the back when it was here. Seems a shame to remove that stuff as the TFC groundcrew guys could have got some stick time in it πŸ™

I seem to recall the pics from that crash being all over the ‘net within hours of the crash & anyone could have downloaded a bunch of them for free….

Does it still have the dual control set-up in the back?
