…I wish the ‘pro-gun lobby’ would just have the balls to say that they like owning guns, for whatever reason, and that the odd school shooting-spree is the price they are willing to accept!

I like owning mine, keeps em out of the hands of criminals 🙂

As for school shootings, the right like to blame it on a lack of god in schools.. which is ironic given that there are about 4x as many shootings in churches…

I noticed that at the press conference they had switched name tags so were identified as each other.

I don’t think the fuel truck is ex-USAF, despite what it says on the side.
USAF Fuel trucks of that period were yellow,

It is yellow… under the primer applied over it for fresh paint, look at the bonnet. It came from Edwards AFB

What’s the Checker Aerobus? Is it crew transport or just a sort of stretched ‘Limo’ – or both?

    Anon.

    Here ya go:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checker_Aerobus

This & other airport limos here:
    http://my.net-link.net/~dcline/limoair1.htm

Out of pure curiosity, what would something like that Aerobus sell for over there?
    Paul

A restored one failed to sell at auction a while back at $14,000
There’s one coming up for auction in January:
    http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/checker/aerobus/1585797.html

    & here’s one for $800:
    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/02/save-this-1969-checker-aerobus-from-getting-made-into-chinese-washing-machines/

If you punch “checker aerobus images” into Google you’ll see a bunch of them in all sorts of conditions. There’s even one with a Corvette power train in it.

& to add a bit of British interest, altho not aviation related:

Saturday: Was at the track & there was a mixed field out at the same time, Corvettes, Shelby Mustangs & big hairy assed Camaros along with some NASCAR cup cars…… & one bloke is a 1976 Lola Can Am car (1500lb, 540hp, 600ft/lb) that absolutely DESTROYED them. He started at the back of the grid & sandbagged for the first 10 minutes running 1.35’s… then he dropped into the low 1.20’s & lapped the every car on the track. He did a 1.10 with a clear run.
The outright lap record is 1.06 by some geezer by the name of Andretti.. 😉

Rick, Guess that’s why many students, when they graduate, owe so much money, having to buy a new bike every other week…..:o
    Jim.
    Lincoln .7

He started putting a dab of paint of them when it became apparent some bikes were ending up back where they started. Can’t recall his name right now, it will come to me.

Moggs, Guess someone must have stolen all the bicycles!!, that’s been the top story re Cambridge of late……….:o
    Jim.
    Lincoln .7

Years ago there was a guy from Cambridge who made a living by stealing bicycles in Cambridge & then taking a van load of them to Oxford where they would be sold to the students. Then he’d fill the van with a load of stolen bikes from Oxford & take them back to Cambridge where they would be sold to the students. It was a regular weekly run for the guy.
