Hi Cees
Yes we have both sets now 🙂
John
Hi all. some more progress to relate.
Thanks to fellow Forumite Air Ministry, we acquired an original set of Stirling rudder pedals (http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?136816-More-Treasures(-)-From-The-Garage/page2 #50)
These have now been refurbished and added to, to make a complete assembly
John
Sure I’ve seen something similar on a Stirling intercom panel.
John
Oh TO you are such a tease 🙂
Can’t promise we’ll be there, a lot depends on how much progress we make on the bomb bay jig and structure over the coming months
John
Don’t do FB personally, but I hope that this link works

Bombay…now there’s a thought. personally I’ve always fancied having a go at a Botha LOL
Hi Cees
We’ve extensively measured LK488s spars so know what we need to manufacture. There’s little to zero chance of using anything from LK488 and tbh not sure we’d want to as it is it’s own time capsule. We have asked previously to have the centre section on loan as it’s the ideal model to work from, we’re hoping that RAFM will agree to this at some stage

Hi John
Any ides on the time frame for the Bombay ?.
Fantastic work by the way.
Bob T.
As David says, no specific timeframe, but if we’d had the final CAD files ready and had the material to hand we could have started getting the frames laser cut this week. Timing’s out unfortunately, but hopefully we’ll get this all in train in the very near future.
Oh and Cees; you are a tease! LOL :dev2:
John
Thanks neil
It’s a nice thought but the skin adds to the static strength of the structure, it would be rather flimsy if haf the skinning was missing unfortunately
John
Trust me, we’ve paced it out on the floor and it is as imposing as it looks LOL:D
Thanks chaps
That last pic with the figure next to it really brings home the undertaking we have made. Hopefully should have some news about teh fabrication of the bomb frames in the next few weeks 🙂
John
Lots going on at the moment. Both sets of rudder pedals are in work and should hopefully be completed within the next couple of weeks (a big thank you to Air Ministry for supplying us with one set). Work is ongoing with the CAD work on the bomb bay area and James Haris has been visualising this in 3D to give you an idea of what this first stage in the build will look like. Some pics below:

This Brown Brothers catalogue lists the fibre pulley sizes on page 183, including AS111. The next size up is 2.4″.
That pretty much matches what we’ve got. I suspect that looking at the one you sent, that it’s a pretty close match, confirmation should come on Saturday. It wouldn’t surprise me though if Shorts used there own spec pulleys in places
