They’ll just be bog standard:rolleyes:
And there’s something that looks suspiciously like a Jag behind it ๐
That’s ok Howard, nearly choked on me tea!:D
โฆsssshh โ we asked you not to tell anyone about that! ๐ฎ
Thereโs also the Stirling fuselage that was used to culvert one of the taxiways at RAF Winthorpe!!

Don’t do that to me Howard:p

To find a barn full of boxed Spits and Stirling so I can donate the Stirling to the RAF Museum then undercut the market with the rest, donate a few and form my own society to promote them.
But what will that leave me to do with my (little) spare time! :(:diablo:
Some more progress to report. The following pics show some new end caps to the control wheel casting and an original refurbished undercarriage lever. We’re gradually nibbling away at the seats and throttle box so hopefully there’ll be some more news to post soon.

Brisfite beat me to it ๐
There is a very small grainy photo of LJ995 in The Stirling Story (Bowyer p297) accredited to ‘Cherry’ Cherrington.

Here’s a photo I’ve found that shows where the Worth Oil Diluting Label is fitted.

Hi Martin
Not sure where the emergency air ones are fitted but the larger one is fitted on the stbd side forward of the main spar. I’ve got a photo at work somewhere which I’ll email to you tomorrow.

Apologies for not posting any updates lately but whilst there’s plenty going on, there’s nothing suitable to show as a finished article. The seat raising mechanism is being worked on along with a re-work of the throttle box to rectify some anomalies.
In the meantime, I thought I’d post a pic of some labels that were donated to us a while ago. From what I can gather the Worth Oil Diluting System improved cold starting of the engines ๐
Hopefully some more in depth updates soon

Certainly would for the Chipmunk and dare I say it for the Stirling too (for future use obviously:diablo:)

Going back to the request by Steve218 regarding info on the Stirling crash, by chance I came across an article in RAF News by the Navigators son.
Stirling R9313 (HA-Q) was shot down on 4/5 May 1942 by a Hurricane/Turbinlite Havoc combination. This was the only instance where this combination actually shot down an aircraft, fortunately with no loss of life in this case.
From the article it appears that the same crew were then shot down over Holland in June 1942 with the loss of 3 crew including the pilot Sqn Ldr Ashworth. The Navigator Plt Off Alan Green ended up in Stalag Luft III for the remainder of the war.
Hopefully this should provide a bit more info to follow up the programme

Good news Paul, I’m sure it will be a pleasure to meet the public and chat. It’s always what I enjoy doing at Cockpitfest.
Please post some pics of the event:D
