I have been told that all of the Ryanair B738s planned for retirement have new operators lined up, so it must be just a timing issue where EI-DAX is concerned.
Thanks for all those kind comments!
I haven’t heard at this stage. They are both quite new aircraft so most likely will move on to new operators fairly soon.
Thanks, everyone. It’s nice to be there for once, when something of interest arrives!
It is already wearing N507JT and I believe other A320s rejoining the JetBlue fleet are also adopting slightly deifferent registrations.
Done a little photoshop on this….I’ve always thought these L-749s were intended for BOAC and the Irish brief use was just a ‘front’…any ideas?
The reason that the proposed Aerlinte service was not proceeded with was a change of government in Ireland and a decision by the new Inter-party Government in April 1948 that the scheme was too costly and should not go ahead. The fact that virtually all the major carriers of the time had transatlantic services passing through Shannon meant that Ireland was still very well served with international connections anyway.
Nowhere in your post does it say that any 777 has actually overrun because of this issue, although the headline clearly suggests that such events have occurred.
I purchased a Coolscan 5 ED a few years back. I had heaps of problems with dust showing up on the scans (off old slides).
Anyone find a way around it picking up the dust.
cheers
I have a Coolscan V ED and it does produce great scans. A careful clean of the slide can reduce the dust to a manageable level (I assume you are referring to Kodachrome, with which the normal dust reduction function can’t be used). Apart from that, though, there is no easy solution that I am aware of.
The near-crash follows some mid-air drama last week down under, when a Virgin Blue Boeing 737 and Cathay Pacific Airbus A330 nearly crossed paths in Australia. That incident was blamed on Brisbane air traffic controllers.
The connection between this event and the El Al one escapes me.
A preliminary report has been published and is quite informative. Here is a link to a summary: http://www.aviationcentral.co.za/?p=655
This link to the full report should work: http://tinyurl.com/ybsvx5u
There was also a discussion on A.net about these aircraft:
Nice shots, the Lightning XS897 is on loan to 29 sqn.
The Lightning in the photo has the belly tank from a Mark 1, 2 or 3 – is it XS897 masquerading as an earlier mark?
Have you had a go at sharpening these? The bmi and Qatar in particular look somewhat soft to me.
one thing i’m sure of its NOT 458 and it is certainly from the 80s.
the seller may not have a clue and bought the pics off somebody else….notice there is no mention of the negatives. I did hear a while ago that somebody would be selling a lot of Lightning pics but i did’nt take much notice of the who why and when:(
If you look on Ebay at his “other items for sale”, you’ll see that he is selling a large collection of Lightning negatives as well.
Here is G-AKNB at Duxford in June 1984, and clearly it had not been repainted since its sojourn in Ireland with Clyden Airways (as EI-BDU):
