Nice shots paticularly the Hunter.
I see that the BBMF have reinstated the “Last of the many” name on the side of the fuselage of PZ865.
I think that this should have been kept whatever the colour scheme she wore in the same manner as their serial numbers are as it intrinsic to this unique airframe, but does anyone know what the white marking behind it is ?
Hi,
the white marking behind the “Last of the many” logo is I think meant to show the current paint scheme peeling back to reveal it’s old last of the many scheme. The white marking has the wording “65 Years” and “1944-2009” on it.
What appeared to be MH434 and Ferocious Frankie over Peterborough, approx. 3.15.
In my opinion a very good show today. Not been on a Sunday for about 5 years and it did seem noticably more busy than I usually experience on Saturdays I had never seen the tank area as crowded! Luckily though from where I was on the tank bank I could not hear the commentary with the exception of a slight ‘murmor’ inbetween passes as a couple of the speakers were out of use.
My only suggestion to TFC for next year would be a re-shuffle of the flying order. For example, today, we had all of the fast, loud etc fighter planes seemingly crammed into one block – the first 120 minutes or so, then all of the slower, ‘more boring!’ planes as I heard somebody call them in the last segment. I would suggest perhaps more of an integrated approach. Perhaps a good idea today would have been to opened with the Spitfires/ 190/ 109 and Horsemen and then given way to the German civilian aircraft; then the P40/ B25s, then back to the slower types – the Cubs for example, just to keep a bit more pace to the entire show.
Congratulations to TFC anyway. I have to admit to being dissapointed about TFCs absence when that became known last week, but this does not really seemed to have affected the show too much. A really enjoyable afternoon!
Well done IWM and TFC!
It will be good to see two FW190s on the flightline. Will it be likely to display though? I thought that the CAA were being cautious about letting these new builds fly (the Spitfire Ltd 190 for example) at displays.
As DCK writes above, all we need now is for the TFC to be confirmed and this looks to be one of the best Flying Legends displays (participant wise) for a number of years.
That’s great news, let’s hope it is ready for the weekend.
When is the main practice/ arrivals day this year? I assumed it would be Friday, but I am sure last year the main bulk activity was on the Thursday.

Met office WWW site had heavy rain Sat detailed yesterday, now it is cleared abd Sunday is due to be **** !:(
The weather forecasts seem to be changing daily, but should (unfortunately if rain is forecast) be becoming more reliable. That said, I have looked at three different weather sites today and all have different conditions for Sunday…
Is this Sea Fury actually a TFC machine? I have seem some sources refer to it as a new addition to the Fighter Collection and others suggest it is this year’s visiting plane from America. Can anyone confirm which it could be?
I’m sure I read somewhere on the forum that the Horsemen will use Miss Velma, Big Beautiful Doll and Ferocious Frankie.
What about Spit XIV?
According to g-info, the permit to fly for G-SPIT expired in April 2009, yet the g-info status is still ‘permit to fly’.
nice list – the word ‘visiting’ in the title would imply that the TFC machines would not included in the list anyway, with the TFC being the host??
Either way I remain optimistic and perhaps the collection are just being cautious as to not cause dissapointments on the day should the suspected CAA issues not be resovled.
A good line up though and I’ll certainly be there, lets hope it can be made a perfect line up though with the inclusion of those Fighter Collection rarities!
What B17 G would that be then? Also where have you got this list from?
Could be Pink Lady? Although is this not now in B-17F configuration?
Also I am wondering how accurate this list could be as it lists the Seafire, however this should be down at Yeovilton for the weekend should it not?
If this list is accurate however, it is a shame about the lack of TFC aircraft as these are what I look forward to most at FL. Still looks a good line up though.
Lanc, Spit & Hurricane due to leave RAF Coningsby 1420 today.
Don’t shoot the messenger!!

Thank You!
They were pretty much spot-on from the time you gave – very much appreciated:)
Hi,
I’m not sure it is a celebration as such, but I think today is some kind of annual boating event at the watersport centre on the main lake.
I counld not find any details about this though, so I couldn’t make any contact regarding the flypast times.
Thank You
Merlin Spitfire Northbound over Peterborough at 13:53 yesterday (Wednesday).
Is this possibly one of the two Spits mentioned above?
Cheers
Willow
Hi, I saw this too – It had cannons on the wings which rules out PL965 and the Grace Spitfire. I saw it near the EofE showground about 2-3 minutes before your sighting, and with BBMF due to perform a couple of flypasts there this weekend I thought perhaps it would be either AB910 or MK356, perhaps getting to know the route? I don’t know, but definately not PT’s or the Grace examples.
