    Awesome!

Is that 18 MK82 on that tomcat?

    No… only 16:diablo::diablo:

    WOW! That be the one!
Yes the picture in that old book (which i still have) always had me wondering if that was a real load or not. Talk about a bizzare weapons fit!

Oh I just noticed there is another pylon on the extreme wingtip with another rocket pod!?
Is this wingpylon a normal thing or limited to a few airframes???

Yes, they are a pilon behind every wing, but no for un pod, they are two rocket pod under each wing!!!!

Thanks Tango III for posting some great pictures of the Lightning emphasising its unusual over-wing pylon/hardpoint arrangement!!
I think it was my lack of inscriptional – but I was enquiring into the unusual ventral hardpoints/pylons (as circled in red).

    Regards
    Pioneer

The truth is that the Lightning in particular was used as a demonstrator of possible configurations of attack, and it was only a prototype EE …

The ventral pylons and missiles were simulated, it was about creating a fighter and bomber variant with advanced weaponry.

However, budget cuts and low sale abroad put paid to that variant.

True when it comes to numbers but this thread has over time evolved to be about the exotic and rare, rather than just “small”. Pictures of the kangaroo air force are not rare, neither are they hard to find.

Airforces such as the North Korean is (on paper atleast) one of the planets largest but good (or indeed any) pictures of its equipment are so rare that I am sure most would agree that pictures of it belongs in this thread..

The respective air forces of India and Pakistan have their own threads and should not be here for two reasons.

That many of the above posted pictures are good and worth wieving is another matter.

    I´m 100% with this.

And we have our first hits!

No.1 Hr.ms. De Ruyter (a.k.a. Koyak) guided missile frigate (I should have left out the SeaSparrow launcher, so it could have been an older Dutch destroyer of Holland or Amsterdam classes 🙂

I remember that photo of the Tromp class, so I knew it also you delete the Sea Sparrow:diablo:

No.3 Hr.ms. Amsterdam auxiliary oiler replenishment ship (I suppose the Goalkeeper was a give away, else it could have been Spain’s Patina class).[/QUOTE]

    Yes Goalkeeper was essential.
