Which is one of the classic arguments for time travel not being possible; if in the whole future of the human-race time-travel becomes possible why aren’t we being visited by time-travellers trying to prevent catastrophes now?

Do time-travellers think that Hitler, or Stalin, or Pol-Pot were not as bad for humanity as we think they were, and so resisted the temptation to assassinate them before they came to power?

Therein lies one of time travels biggest conundrums.
If you went back in time and killed Hitler it could lead to Germany winning the war and you not existing.
Kill Hitler. Some other Nazi dude takes his place. Germany doesn’t make any military mistakes. Germany wins. Your father is killed in battle. You don’t exist.

But then of course if you don’t exist how did you……

There’s more a case for not changing the past. It’s happened, your alive, don’t change anything.

So you just want a foot in both “camps” do you??;) Talking of trannies I wonder why there are more males in drag than females in male drag…….There’s your thought for the afternoon, Linc.

I just thought that if I had another crack of the whip so to speak I’d like to do it from the other side. :diablo:

All you people saying you wouldn’t change anything. What a wasted opportunity.

Today I found an old Log book, and found two Shackletons I had flown in many yrs ago. I posted on Historic, to see if anyone knew their whereabouts,(ID Numbers given). pagon 01 stated he possibly knew the fate of one of them, nr him, scrapped. The same happened to the second, elsewhere.

So, guys and gals, if I could turn back time, I would try and get WB 822, in somewhere like Duxford, so I could go there now with my Grandchildren and say, “I flew in that”.

What would you do or change if you could turn back time?.
    Jim.

    Lincoln .7

I would join the Airforce or change my chromosomes.

But if somebody invented a time machine how long do you think the queue would be for people wanting to go back and change things.

There’s no point developing a time machine because I would just come back from the future to tell myself how I did it and since I haven’t then I didn’t.

    Hi,

thanks for the replies. I guess I’ll just have to trawl shops for something round. Dog rings, deck quoits, have to check these out.

Unfortunately not as exciting as a restoration. I’ve built a floor mounted yoke for flight-simming which has an aluminium pole handle. I built it by taking a PC Joystick. Removing the handle. Reversing it, with the use of a funnel attached it to a yoke. Sounds a bit unconventional but works a treat (see here http://www.flightsim.com/main/howto/joystick.htm ). I was thinking of improving the Mk1 with a Mk2 Ring Handle.

    Regards,

    H.

In the event funds run dry and the Vulcan is finally grounded is it planned to do a finale. Perhaps a special last flight day where her engines can be opened up with afterburners?

I have some pictures of the original crash when the hulk was placed into the OFMC hanger at Duxford. From memory all that was not destroyed, from the fuselage of the aircraft, was a small portion of centre section and tail. These were also damaged and twisted.
The nose and cockpit it could be said were effectively scrap. Smashed would be a good word to describe it. Although scrap can be restored to some extent I guess.

Would be interesting to know approximate time scales of the new rebuild to flying status.
