What happened to the TFC Mossie? The one from IWM Lambeth.

Did the real upkeeps hit the dams with such force or were they timed to have lost most of their energy before they hit?
I would have expected the mine to become damaged or explode with that force.

The program was very interesting and gave an insight in to what it must have looked like on the day, the DC4 being a good approximation.

I did get the feeling though it was more luck, good fortune than judgement that the bomb hit. Far too many random variables (bomb speed, altitude, distance from dam) unlike the real mission.

The Scientist guy getting all emotional in the Lanc. I can understand that. The Lanc is a very imposing and historic aircraft.

If you take a helicopter. Tie the skies to a piece of plywood the same diameter as the rotor blades, will the helicopter be able to take off?

BTW this was done on Mythbusters too but they used toy helicopters 🙂

What’s the story of the An2.
It’s always parked at Popham but doesn’t carry UK registration?

Wow. Last time I saw Bedsheet Bomber it was complete and standing next to `Dolly` at North Weald.

A very nice aircraft in it’s own right but I don’t see the point.
Not to scale and not a Mossie.

Me109G `Black 6` sounded more rough and gruff than the refined sound of a Merlin.

Fictitious but I like “The Slaughtered Lamb” on the moors in the film American Werewolf in London.

My favorite real pubs were the Firkins. Goose and Firkin being my local.

So is this a Kittyhawk, Tommahawk or Warhawk?
I can never tell the difference.

I think the next major conflict is going to come in the middle east when the oil, finally starts to dry up. By then the west will have developed alternatives or found new oil sources. What else does the dessert have to offer? Lots of very rich nations faced with no economy and no source of income.

The wars we are involved in now are just continuation of old problems. People seem to think we are getting involved in new conflicts when in reality we have been at war for several hundred years. Just look at the Afganistan memorial in Reading dated during the 1800’s.

Then of course there is a war from invaders not of this earth. Definitely sci-fi but not impossible that we could face invaders from outer space!
