What I was interested in was whether we could repel an attack if the Argies decided to recapture the Falklands. Politically I doubt they would in the current climate, but, if they did, could we do anything about it?
Also I was interested in whether the Argies could (militarily) actually take the islands? Would they have the equipment?

If you were doing a wheels up in a 109 wouldn’t you jettison the canopy?
Which explains the odd canopies on the 109’s perhaps?
What sort of things will be on sale at the Aerojumble?
Mostly interested in cheap aircraft parts to adorn my model display. Model kits and possibly a cheapish control column grip I could use with my flight-sim. I’ve built a floor mounted yoke that needs a grip of some sort.
On the subject of B24’s. I’m surprised no one ever thought to save some of the Privateer water bombers, return them to warbird config and fly them on the airshow circuit. Are there any still left flying?
I wonder if the BBMF would consider painting some of their aircraft in their civilian schemes? Blue Hurricane, Grey Spitfire, not sure about the lanc.
What’s with the chrome gun on the A10. Is that standard fit or just for show?
If we are going for a truly unmanned fighter. A fighter with the same or greater capability than a human pilot then we are going to need a computer system with the same thought processes, same conscience, conscieness, same capabilities as man.
If this is the case won’t we simply have a paradox. A computer that is the same as man, same weaknesses. Also will the computer pilot have fear. Will it retreat. Will it need an ejection seat?
looks authentic enough. Maybe a controlled wheels up due to gear or fuel problem as there doesn’t appear to be any battle damage.
Might also be a propaganda stunt or was being flown by the allies at the time?
If it was 89 MH434 displayed as a trio with NH238 and PL983. MH434 was painted light blue and the other two were in their Piece of cake colours.
If that Spitfire trio did only one season (from memory they did) then Biggin was host to p38 lightning “Miss Behaving” if that helps to date it.
I have a newspaper cutting at home (if I can find it) for the Spitfire Trio which I will post later. Hopefully the cutting is dated.
Ah, thanks. I was wondering if it contained some inert gas to stop corrosion. But now I know 🙂
Do you have any information on the bubble the engine is in?
What’s it for, what’s it do and how do they keep it inflated as it looks to be just sitting on the floor?
Sshhhhhhh……..don’t move-there it is again ! :p
From the wing attach points which are small and swept back could it be one of those US Navy ww2 upward angled winged sea planes. Sorry, not sure what they are called.
Or maybe one of these?
Holes for fake guns maybe?
They have a coffin so were aware the pilot was in the aircraft. Pity more appropriate covers were no brought for the pilots body. However if the pilot is properly buried at least family and historians will have a place to visit.
Do we know why the aircraft was excavated?
BTW the prop doesn’t look to have been turning when it crashed. No curve to the blades. Just bent back slightly.
