I think it is a publicity failure for the government to have done nothing but in real terms I doubt there is anything that could have been done.
There is no justification to spend millions on something that happens so infrequently and to so few of the population.
I don’t see why the government has to give any money to flooded homes.
Homeowners who live near water or on indicative flood plains should have sufficient insurance to protect themselves.

Two road signs that always make me chuckle.
The one that says “Risk of skidding, 20 mph” after a road has been applied with an anti-skid coating.
“No hard shoulder for 300 yards” Like I have a choice when and where I’m going to break down!

It’s not just the signs.For those that know the A14 just north of Cambridge heading towards the M11 they built a brand new layby.Problem was it was deemed dangerous and is now only allowed to be used in emergencies :stupid:

Saint James’s Road, London, England, United Kingdom.
I lived in South London for 40 years. I was always amused at this road that had speed humps painted on it but no humps!

I can only imagine that the `humpers` didn’t do their job and the painters just did theirs anyway because they were paid. They even included the white triangle to indicate an incline!

If Scotland becomes independent I wonder what could happen?

Scotland and England get into a political row and both throw their toys out the pram.
England pulls the financial plug and the Scots, not wanting to loose face close their borders.
They impound our nuclear deterrent and sell off the Subs. Not to mention the maritime and helicopter bases.
Scottish fishing waters are monitored.

Highly unlikely but amusing none the less.
BTW the Scottish Pound will be named the MacKay, there being 10 Fultons to the Mackay.

Apparently you can hack the road signs if the default password is not reset. Especially temporary and mobile ones.

LRDG type adventure set in the dessert. One of the `classic` war films.
Sadly I doubt we will see the actors, nor the genre ever again.

How often have you pootling along in a 30 zone, hit the 60 zone signs. Think, “great” time to put the boot down when you see “SLOW” painted in white on the road!
If only they used a little common sense. Maybe put the 60 signs AFTER the hazzard. Face Palm!

So are we saying that a convicted murderer can legally end his / her life. But a person dying of terminal illness cannot?
