While I agree the subject of immigration should be assessed and rules put in place to prevent abuse,
I think the majority of `abuse` seems to be from the work shy, lazy, ignorant, indigenous people from `this` country.

I can’t find details online but I believe the vertical record was set in Iran in the mid-1970s with a 214 whilst Bell staff were training IIAA pilots. When empty the 214s could climb vertically at thousands of feet per minute.

    Edit: http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/view/1975/1975%20-%200951.html

The Lama that holds the absolute altitude record did lift vertically but transitioned to an inclined climb. The flame-out was due to lack of fuel, they had only loaded sufficient to achieve the desired altitude and there was no intention ( or possibility ) of relighting the engine at that height.

Very interesting. Did they do an auto-rotative landing? Sounds a tad dicey.

On the Sunday a Hurricane returned to Duxford after the display quite late.
Anyone know where it went or what it was doing?

Thanks for the replies, very interesting. Often wondered why the doors on the B25 at Dunsfold open instantly.

To expand the discussion to other aircraft. Does the He111 and Blenheim have bungy sprung bomb doors?
The film BoB shows bombs pushing open the doors as they fall past and I’m sure I’ve seen a film of a Blenheim crewman pulling open the doors of a Blenheim?

When flags are painted onto a vehicle, or on the tail fin of an aircraft, the
flag on the port side should show the obverse of the flag (ie. the flagpole
on the left), while that on the starboard side should show the reverse (ie.
the flagpole on the right). On surfaces perpendicular to the direction of
travel (eg. the back of the vehicle) the obverse of the flag should be shown.

Isn’t that to do with carrying your colours `into` battle? The same reason why the flag on the shoulder of American troops has the stars always to the front.

Lets pretend I am an oil Tycoon with more money than sense.
What would it take to get Concorde flying again?

Presumably the BA Concorde’s are in potentially airworthy condition, all that is required
is servicing, spares, engines, insurance and the backing of various organisations?

The flip side is would you rather everyone else pinched the brand and made money out of it without
    anything going to the Vulcan?
In some ways they have to trademark the Vulcan as to do nothing may mean they loose the right.

Sunday was superb and the weather was gorgeous.
The swirling, twirling aircraft had me dizzy at one point trying to keep up.
Loved the little touches like the three ship loop.

Was interesting watching the aircraft pulling up and gaining height to fly over or avoid the M11.

You would have to send the Blenheim back to Canada.

The Yale is a rare aircraft. Surprised there’s not more fuss made over it.

Would love a 1:24th scale Lancaster!

Had no idea these were already released in 1:48 – sorry, the Stirling has got to be pretty darn big!

My mistake, didn’t notice the Scale. BTW a 1:48th Stirling is insane!

Would be nice to see a 1:48 Halifax II and dare I say it a Stirling!

They will probably hold fire with the Stirling as Italeri have released both the Bomber and Towing versions recently.
Revell have released a Halifax. So that possibly rules out that one too. Not to mention Italeris excellent Sunderland.

Have you seen Airfix’s new Whitley and Shakleton?

Any reason you’ve quoted my poor attempt at humour?

Meant to quote another post but must have clicked the last in list by mistake 🙂
In fact maybe that’s bug. I’m sure I quoted the post above yours? Maybe your post snuck in before I got to post mine?
    Anyway I corrected mine.

Just out of interest where did the money go for the Biggin event. Did it go to charity? Don’t really mind, just wondered.

    Hi All,
    hampden98,
Which did you like out of them two or indeed never ? Personally I liked both but not the sequels that followed Starship Troopers just got silly after the first one.

    Geoff.

Bit late responding, didn’t see the reply 🙂
I liked all of them but stopped after Starship Troopers 1. 2 and after were rubbish.
