I went out with a woman that was blind.
You had to hand it to her.

I’m with TonyT on this. Yonks ago, we sent some money ro Gt. Ormond St. Within a very short space of time – something like about three months, most of our mail comprised pressure begging letters from charities mainly in this country and, it still does.
Sadly had the same experience with BHF. Subscribed to give £5 per month. When the begging letters started I cancelled.

How do they lower, and then raise again the undercarts on those aircraft hanging from the ceiling?
Are the copper pipes carrying coolant?
One in the middle looks like the rubber coupling has burnt away.
Presumably a complete strip down and replacement of all the heat exposed metal?
An interesting picture for modellers to see the internals of a damaged engine. Hope she’s flying soon 🙂
I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking that they have ruined the museum.
The refit in the 80’s / 90’s was brilliant. It opened up the museum all the way
to the roof. Brightened up the exhibits and modernised the building. The aircraft in the roof were amazing.
Now it’s just a dinghy dark un-inspiring crowded cramped space.
The building quality is suspect too with duck taped step edges and a cracked upper floor surface.
The building needs to give space and compliment the exhibits. Now it overpowers and crowds them out.
Agree about the lack of descriptive labeling.
Should be a large, simply label explaining what it is. Then smaller more detailed labeling if you want it.
Some or most exhibits seem to have no labels at all.
Hate it.
My father was part of the Royal Navy `Tiger Force`.
If the bomb hadn’t dropped I may not have been here.
When I got interested in historic airshow aviation in 1989 the aircraft that really caught my attention and imagination
were the Blenheim and The Hurricane.
I can remember entering the TFC hanger to see a silver Hurricane under restoration and spent many a weekend watching both the Blenheim and Sea Hurricane
progress to flight.
Now that we have sufficient Hurricanes how about a Hurricane Day at Duxford similar to the Spitfire day?
Hi All,
Here are two for you today.:eagerness:
Geoff.
Are those Dorniers the low level raiders that attacked Kenley?
It was an interesting solution to the problem of extending the range of the fighter, but the drop-tank was so much simpler.
Moggy
How does it extend the range? I would have thought the extra drag and weight would negate any range advantage?
Was it intended as a jettison-able wing? In which case what happened to the struts?
The old adage “if it looks right, it fly’s right” obviously didn’t apply here. It looks so very wrong.
“P51, Cadillac of the sky” !

They record the aircraft in pictures for posterity which is more than their owners are doing.
Good on them I say.
I wonder how many old pictures have been obtained in a similar fashion and now appear in books or historical articles.
I find the U-Boat crew posing with the Polar Bear very sad.
However a white Spitfire would make an interesting change. Were Spitfires ever painted white?
Perhaps some of the target range aircraft?
These things are so expensive could we actually risk them in a war?
