    Big Brother anyone?

    Well, well, well!
    That’s (almost) unanimous, then.
Is this a “first” on here?
………….and Hesssy – you DESERVE to be embarassed!
    Regards
    Paul
PS: I’ll be avoiding it (like the plague!) too.

    ‘558 “Display”

    Thanks Bubbles,
……and that’s EXACTLY why a number of us “stayed on the outside” to watch the Test Flights!

    ‘558 First Public Dispaly

    Hello again VX,

Not sure where this “Display without Permit” came from.
As an avid Vulcan-watcher (since 1956!!), I can’t recall any suggestion that “The Delta Lady” would perform publicly without CAA approval. I AM, however, aware that there has been quite alot of “rumours of rumours” on the forums. As I’ve said before, it’s quite important to know WHO to take notice-of!
Anyroadup, like any “Lady” (and my SWMBO of 43 years standing is a CLASSIC example), ‘558 will display when she’s ready……….and (again like my SWMBO) it’ll be WELL worth the wait!!
    Regards

    ‘558 First Public Display

Can someone please tell me what’s changed….

I’ve just been reading the TVOC website and the latest news written by Rusty about how they had hoped that Cosford would be the show where they brought 558 to the Public, but it wasn’t to be because the test flight on the Friday had to be cancelled.

Then, later on she tells us that the test flights are finished but Waddington is a “target not a commitment”. IF they are being serious in what they say, and they really think that they were going to be able to display 558 at Cosford without the permit in place, then what aren’t they applying the same ‘rules’ for Waddington and confirming that she’ll be there now that the test flights are finished?

Simple really……………because the official Permit to Fly has still to be granted by CAA, and the Pilots still need a Display Authorisation from the same body.

    Air League Reception

    Hello again, Twin Otter

Yes………Taff’s right (as always!) – I’m sorry to have posted “old news”, although as I said earlier, it’s nice to know someone appreciates what Dr Bob does!
So, was Dr Bob at St James’ Palace to receive ANOTHER award?
I sincerely hope-so. He – and the dedicated team behind him – derseve ALL the encouragement they can get.

    Regards

    “The Aviator”

First time I’d seen this. WHAT a good film!! I especially liked the way that the TWA/Pan Am battle for the transatlantic route was “brought to life”, and the associated political wrangles.
I enjoyed the simulated aviation scenes, and thought them very well done.
Like others, I felt that the ending left us a bit up-in-the air (no pun intended) so far as Howard Huges was concerned, so roll-on part 2!

    Perth (Scone) Flight Sim Scenery

    Hello Wallace,
No, I don’t……………but I might know a man who can!
If you log on to http://www.ukmil.org.uk, one of the Moderators there – Stevo_UKMIL – was involved in building the scenery you seek.
You can send him a Private Message via that website.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks Smiler, you Guys are doing a BRILL Job. It’s right what Binbrook74 says “you just don’t realise…………”.
Perhaps some of the “whingers” should think about that from time-to-time!!
    Keep up the good work!

    Hi TJ,

    GREAT Photos again!
I was “on the inside” for Wednesday’s flight – nice for the crack, but not so good for photography, so THANKS for sharing your excellent pics.

    Me too, TJ!!
Cottesmore is not one of my usual “spotting places”, but as Arnie says “I’ll be back!” (no doubt on Wednesday)
Here’s my best photo effort – admittedly not a patch on your 300mm lens.

I must have been standing almost next to you, but your lens was quite obviously rather longer than mine!!

    Play an Instrument?

    Hello,
Yes……………I play Drums in a Shadows-style Band. Little Brother (he’s 60!) on Lead Guitar, Sis-in-Law on Bass, Younger Son on Rhythm Guitar, and Niece on Keyboards. We play most weeks, mainly for our own enjoyment, but occasionally do “proper” gigs. We LOVE it!!
My own musical tastes, however, DO go a little beyond 1960’s Pop. Me and my Wife really enjoy acoustic Blues
(espec. Delta Blues – Robert Johnson etc etc), and Blues-oriented rock – there are quite a few British Bands doing this (The Nimmo Brothers, Matt Schofield Band, Ian Parker Band, to name just a few) who REALLY deserve far greater recognition than they actually get! . I also like Jazz, with a bias towards Guitar-based stuff like Wes Montgomery, Johnny Smith and the like. Continuing the Guitar theme, I also like almost anything by the late (Great) Chet Atkins.
    Well – you DID ask!
