    RE: Airliner World Livery

Thanks chaps. I’m gonna spend some time over the weekend and get some more done, perhaps even update it! If you’ve got any blank templates I’ll take a look at them.

I was contemplating dabling with gmax over the festive period also. You guys got any ideas on what aircraft i should model? Spose it should be something thats not been done already 😉

The WM emailed me yesterday, the model should be in next issue!!

    Regards,

    RE: Plane age

I’ve flown in a Dragon Rapid, the one at Duxford. I think its still there, was a few years ago though. It was for a Domark (remember teh flight sim construction kit) press day. I don’t know the age of the aircraft though.

    RE: helicopter flight sims

The best around is Comanche V Homkum, sort of Apache V Havoc 2. The graphics are pretty good even by today’s standards. But in my opinion the dynamic campaigns of both games make them superb, there are far too many sims that neglect the dynamic campaign, instead gearing towards linear missions. Check Key’s shop they’re selling both for around a tenner I think. I had lost my copy of Comanche Hokum so I bought it about a month ago from them.

If you don’t mind a more arcade feel then Comanche 4 is a good bet. Based loosly on the DeltaForce Landwarrior engine, its the first Novalogic game to be fully 3D and not involve Voxels! The game is graphically amazing (if you have a killer Graphics card that is) There are various campaigns set around the globe, including jungle, urban, desert and snow environments. The campaigns are linear and the missions vary from sneaky sneaky to all out fast paced devestation.

Plus its great mulitplayer, makes a good change from Quake/Unreal imagine 32 attack helicopters going deathmatch, great fun!

RE: Whats the speed of Dark ?

I would have thought that dark doesn’t have a speed as it is the absence of light.

Correct me if I am wrong.

    RE: CFS3 – A crock of poo

    >Thanks. Back to Europe again eh..Is it a hypothetical
    >continuance of WW2?

Sort of, Microsoft wanted to go low level over Europe, and harped on about the graphics engine being designed for low level detail. So why they included some fairly high alt bombers I don’t know. In fact the flight modelling at high alt is pretty p**s poor, try it out and see what I mean.

Personally I don’t think CFS3 looks that much different from CFS2 especially with some of the later addons that were pushing it to the limit.

After playing IL2 for sometime now I have to say it is probably one of the best (if not the best) WW2 flight sim out there. CFS has always seemed a bit of an arcade afair to me, especially after the aforementioned IL2.

I would say CFS3 is worth buying if you have the hardware to back it up and don’t own CFS2. However CFS2 must be on a budget range by now, and there are some corking addons for it, plus the specs to run it are a lot lower than the third installment.

The next version of IL2 is out in the new year mid Jan I think, titled Forgoten Battles. And its not an addon! Yes thats right it is a standalone product, people looking to buy a sim could wait for that one, it looks supberb!
