    RE: CFS3 – A crock of poo

    >I now have 2002 pro and it does the same but the comp I have
    >only runs it with the beechcraft and cessna sized files
    >anything bigger crashes it.

I hate to see a fellow simmer in trouble 🙂

I’ve got a fix for you Merlin. I had the same problems, I assumed it was my graphics card so I swapped to reference drivers but that didn’t help.

I checked a few things and soon realised that it wasn’t the graphics at all, but the sound!

If you run DirectX config program goto sound settings and take the acceleration down to standard/basic. Then try FS2002, hopefully you will find eveything works. If so you can go back to dxconfig and up the sound acceleration a notch, but not to max as FS2002 will crash again.

If you need more info I’ll be glad to help.

    RE: CFS3 – A crock of poo

I bought CFS3 a couple of weeks back and I have to admit I think Microsoft have let themselves down.

Have you installed reference drivers? Apparently the CFS3 engine is quite intensive and requires a ninja PC to run it at a reasonalbe frame rate.

I’ve got a 1.4 Athlon, GeForce2 PRO reference drivers, 512MB RAM and 7,200rpm HD. I can run CFS3 on 1024×768 and all detail settings on 4 (5 is max), now and again the frame rate will drop horrendously and the action will jump, but overall its not too bad I suppose. But considering IL2 runs on my machine at a higher resolution and in my opinion looks a hell of a lot better, I think Microsoft are getting sloppy and hope that their customers can afford the latest hardware.

If you havent got CFS2 or IL2 then I reckon CFS3 would be an OK buy, as there will soon be loads of addons and extra aircraft availble. I think CFS3 can take gmax aircraft so there are going to be a few hundred across the web soon.

Forum squadron sounds cool! I’m in.

Not even 21 mate, when I hit 21 it made practically naff all difference, and when I hit 25, again not much diff. Guess the insurance companies don’t like males under 47! I do think it is a massive rip off. Take for example a crash I had, I stalled into the back of the sh1test rover you have ever seen. I must have hit him aty crawling speed and caused a wopping £250 damage! But he was awkward and wouldn’t settle privatly. The result… my premium on renewal went from 1,200 a year to £4,900!! After I shopped around I got it down to £1,700 but I was appaled that I had lost my no-claims over £250 even though I was paying them £1,200 a year, they still made a £950 profit out of me! And wouldn;t let me settle the amount to get my no claims back, I wonder why?

    RE: Morrowind

I run morrowind on a GF2 PRO (64MB RAM) with no problem.

I suggest you take a few video settings down a notch or two. I turned the shadows off on my game cos I didn’t like em.

    and stick to 1024 32bit

RE: What car do you currently drive?

    A330Crazy,

I haven’t got a pic of it to hand but I have a pic of the kit. The Corsa’s sittin in the garage at the moment waiting for the rear end to be smoothed out and resprayed. Your bro sounds like a hardcore modder! Shame about the RS, my Clio was subject to some vandalism a while back, its such a petty act. I cant afford one so I’ll wreck it attitude narcs me off. People like that should have the balls (or equivalent) cut off! Harsh I know but in the words of Travolta in pulp fiction you shouldnt touch another man’s motor! (couldn’t remember the words, sorry)

Good luck with the Fisti, keep me posted dude, if ya need tips or anything then feel free to ask, although it sounds like your brother is going to be a great help in your project.

RE: A few things – but one thing in particular..

    Thats f*~#ked up!

I will have a rant now

BT are being overslow on enabling exchanges for ADSL which I would quite like. This whole broadband thing has been hyped up and we are all waiting for it to happen. But… nothing has, oh now hang on something did happen. They spent 30 million on a poxy advert which rubs my nose in it every evening that I am part of the 99% of the country that wont get it for years!!!

RE: What car do you currently drive?

    Modifications to my Corsa SRi:

    Engine…
    Pipercross induction kit
    Ecotec
    Performance re-profiled cam
    splitfire plugs and ht leads
Full Piper mild steel exhaust system with 4″ oval pipe
    De-cat pipe

    Suspension…
    Lowered 40mm on PI springs
    Strut brace

    External:
15″ White allys similar to the fisti above.
Full PSG Combat kit inc terminator bonnet
Blue neon underlight kit, 1 front, 2 side, 1 rear
    clear side repeaters

    Internal…
    Momo pedals
    Momo gear knob

    ICE…
    Sony Mobile MD head unit
Everything else is standard, at the moment.

    and thats it:)

Its nod bad as a motor and the insurance is a great deal less than the Clio 16v was, only £500 fully comp! I wish it was a bit faster, although it sounds amazing, thats an 8 valve engine for you.
