WoW! I am impressed!
Just curious….what type of paint are you using?
Very nice find!
I’m amazed at how much progress seems to have been made in a relatively short time. Have you got a team of elves secreted away somewhere Cees?
:diablo:
john
I was just thinking the same. Are you working to a wartime production schedule?
You are a very lucky fellow to find this turret and even luckier that it still has a number of the very hard to find typical FN turret parts…the rotation motor, elevation rams, valve box, fire control valve, rear sear release lines and it appears to still have the gun mounts.
Any chance of posting a few more pictures?
Very nice work Andrew!
I’m glad the panel found a good home.
A few pictures from our recent visit to the CASM.
My dad, brother and I spent the majority of our visit touring the FM104 project.
The team is still concentrating on repairing/rebuilding sections of the spar & floor section behind the cockpit that was cut/burnt out to accommodate the mounting of the airframe on a plinth at Toronto’s waterfront. Some replacement components have been salvaged from a section of FM118’s fuselage which sat on a gunnery range at CFB Shilo, Manitoba…..the bullet holes are being meticulously patched.
The team happily accepted our donation of a Bendix Stromberg PD16 carburetor. Now they only need three more!

Peter last time I looked I think there was at least 2 Strombergs in storage in my garage, wonder if they would be interested? DB
I’m quite sure they would be interested. That was the only PD16 we had, all the others are marked PD18.
Cheers,
Was that the donated Bendix Stromberg PD16 carburetor that he was demostrating being attached to the Merlin Supercharger?
Andrew..
Yes

Hi Peter,
If it helps any….I found this in the Canuck Mk 5 – Description & Maintenance Instructions (revised 1974).
Looks quite similar.

Looking good!
Will you be constructing anything below the main cockpit floor?
I didn’t think that an FN120 was ever fitted to Wellingtons as it was only fitted to later Lancs. AFIK, Wimpy turrets were FN4/FN20.
John
My thoughts also.
All FN rear turrets used the same type of controls.
I found this pair on ebay a few years ago and I’m still looking for another….they’re quite rare.

I’ve a feeling some late production Wellingtons (MK. X) were fitted with the FN120 turret as a precursor to the FN121 with AGLT.
I don’t think the latter ever made it onto operational Wellingtons, although AP2799G Vol 1 was prepared for it.
I never thought of a Wellington having ammunition ducts, but it’s very possible.
