Gentlemen,
I have been following the Andy Saunders threads as a silent spectator.
Although I have only ever exchanged a few PMs with him, I found him to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
I am truly disgusted and dismayed with the way he has been treated by Key; I have already cancelled my subscription to Flypast.
This is not the only reason for my departure, although it is the main one.
I am also saddened by some assumptive comments made on my Helios 522 thread by certain persons.
In light of these events, I no longer wish to be a part of this forum, and am hereby signing off.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have helped and advised me during my short time here. You know who you are.
Goodbye, and good luck.

It’s a boat.
Wasn’t “Nessie” (A.K.A. Robert) salvaged and placed on display at the Brooklands Museum? 😀

Words fail me. Utterly deplorable.
I very much doubt that the vermin who did this will be caught…
Even if they are, they will likely get a slap on the wrist, “Therapy” and probably a holiday at the taxpayers expense.
Personally I know what I would like to do to them!
As they are so interested in scrap metal, feed them into one of those big shredders. Very slowly.

Helios Flight 522
I have established that there is a memorial shrine dedicated to the victims of Flight 522.
Referring to my original question – Is the tail unit still there?
It is the dominant feature in many of the accident photos, and I was wondering if it was left there as a memorial in itself. (I am informed that large parts have been left at a couple of other Greek crash sites.)
TIA,
Jason

Must be a very large Spitfire:
Quote by Brighton Area Dive Site Info:
Spitfire (15m, 3m high; 3381 ton) A single seater low-wing monoplane lying very close to the old sewage pipe.
😀
Interesting site though… :cool::cool:

Is this the aircraft which was intercepted by fighters and it looked like there were no crew on board. Who were in fact out cold.
That’s the one. Apparently one of the stewards tried to regain control. He was seen in the cockpit by one of the F-16 pilots sent to intercept.

Why would anyone want to go to a place like that??
For the same reason I (and many others) visit high-ground crashsites in the Derbyshire Peak District, for example.
Out of respect & remembrance.
And no, I’m not a relative.

Are there any of these sites near Derby?
