I’d say YJ-62 is better than the enhanced Moskit.
I’d rank the Chinese AShM as:

For starters you could atleast put a reason why you think its better rather just say its better, by that you could mean its better looking, better in terms of range, better because its indigenous etc. And second of all club hasnt entered service yet to my knowledge and its currently limited to the kilo so dont exactly know the point of comparing the two.

As for the new Sov compared to other Chinese DDGs, I’d put it slightly ahead of 052B and way behind 052C. 051C’s entire configuration hasn’t come out yet, but I would say it has to be more advanced. You are not right in saying that the sonar and ASW on 956EM is better. Its weak ASW capability actually one of the limiting factors on 956. All the recent Chinese DDGs should be at least equipped with Towed Array sonar.

believe the new sov’s carry the VDS? as for chinese tas i havent seen any evidence these vessels have that looking at the design unless you have any evidence to the contrary. Also it doesnt make sense for them to have TAS considering 051C doesnt even a hanger for ASW helo’s. As for china having better ashm than moskit what are you talking about..

At least I never assumed anything. I only read what Kanwa said, and now most of what Kanwa said about the super Sov did not come true except the CIWS.

As of 051C,052C and 052B, seems that you are assuming too much.

you are assuming from memory that kanwa said this and that, i dont recall pinkov ever saying anything like that. Anyway mine is more of an analysis 😉

First of all you guys are assuming too many things. Reason for sovremenny purchase is mainly cost and capability.
The newly built sovremenny arent too expensive (1.4 bill for 2 vessels?) and that includes cost for newer moskit devolopment. 052C cost would have costed a lot more (billion+ IMO) even that doesnt have CIWS, main gun, sonar? or ASuW as capable as what sovremenny has. The 051C and 052B which are cheaper arent that capable as sovremenny-EM obviously. So in retrospect china doesnt really have ddg design that is capable of carrying moskit and more or less all those ddgs dont offer the multipurpose capabilities that new sovremenny offers.

leon, yes it comes in different configurations it can support upto 12 FCR.

Maybe because of the price? Or is it still a custom for the russian to hand out down rated naval equipement…?

not really kashtan-m has been marketed for export extensively last couple years, The manufacturer even removed the webpage brchure for kashtan i suspect the issue is probably time. Newer variant has some key changes like a new 3d surv radar that would have required integration tests which probably wasnt possible in timeframe china wanted it to be delivered. There is no need for ak-630 since there is kashtan besides fcr and control/operator room for it were probably removed to make room for kashtan. The name of the older main gun is ak-130.

yeap orekh has always been part of shtil system.

It’s the kombinirovannogo zenith rocket – artillery complex “chestnut”

lack of M is bit surpising since it finished certification trials in 03 IIRC.

They are about the same, but the quality has supposedly be improved according to kanwa. The fire control system is changed. I believe they have 6 MR-90 radar for Shtil now. I think they had less before.

what are you saying mr-90s are different? 6 orekh FCR were present in the older sovremenny as well.

The radar will be fregat M2EM in all likely hood and search radar for kashtan might be postiv or positiv phased array radar depending on whether its kashtan-m or not. As for main gun i thought it was supposed to be A-192?

The difference is the length of deck needed. With the cats, you can hook up a new aircraft for launch in ~30-60 seconds, since the next aircraft can be in position behind the blast deflectors. With STOVL, the aircraft need to be taxied a greater distance, and still have a longer takeoff run. The result of this length of takeoff is that you must park the aircraft on the bow and aft (or in the hangar). With CTOL, you can park an entire Alpha strike aft, simply bringing the aircraft forward for launch. This results in faster takeoffs.

Let me try to compress what you are said, so are you saying with STOVL you need the entire runway for launch unlike CTOL? I dont think so show me an example where thats the case.

wonderful the kids are at it again anyway

The exact number is the big 3

No thread has to be like that its the pople who make it like that. That you said these hings will happen you are thinking what to say already?

Why cant people just post numbers?

the designation of vessels for china and india are different, what PLAN classifies as frigate (jiangwei’s) are considered corvette’s by the IN and vessels like Luda are considered more of frigate than a destroyer. IN does have close to 11 large surface combatants under various phases of construction.

If, India is going to buy yet another fighter. It needs to move on to at least 4.5 Generation Type. (i.e. Typhoon, Rafale, etc.)

what are you talking about are you referring to the MRCA???

i don think so … Rafale is not a lifting body design like the MiG-29 or the Su-27s (neither is the F-18 to that extend) and that makes them to depend on their sheer thrust , whcih Rafakle don have enough, and i really doubt if thay cud take off from ski-jump … if there has been any ase of them haveing shown from ground based ones, i’d have considered the prospect of them taking off ….

it should be able to takeoff from ski jump only question is amount of payload it can carry. I dont think that was big of issue i believe reason it wasnt procued in the end was mainly due to price and maintenence issue.

Can rafales take off from this carriers, or it too needs steam catapult system?

they can take off from ski jump according to dassault which was offering it to the IN.
As for cats on vikramaditya no they wont have it, they were orginally considered back in 01 for the russians to fit it in but the plan was dropped because of technical issues probably.

Wrong. I hope, you ment gas-turbines fired by light-oil!

yeah ignore that post was typing up something else in fact (i forgot what i was going to say i think i was trying to compare the various prop systems) then i must i accidently hit submit before i finished typing it.

I somehow suspect that JSF will cost in the region of 60-70 million USD. We are talking of delivery dates of 2013 & not 2006 here, so inflation, escalation on R&D etc factors will increase its price.

Delivery dates are more like 2020 if you ask me.
