plawolf the argument was over 4 MLRS launchers by the bridge not the two reverse engineered RBU-1200 found in the front (range 1.2 km manual reload). Which is pretty obsolete by current standards.

Each of the 052 can hold two Helix,

as pointed out above there is only one hanger, one door = 1 helo unless china has invented some kinda of shrink ray. Even the link u posted says that
    http://www.stormpages.com/jetfight/luhai_luhu_luda.htm

    a single helicopter hanger

122mm for just decoys? The MLRS is overkill for just decoys.

there are decoys that are larger than that the russians use 144 mm decoy launchers and there is few mlrs decoy systems used by the western navies as well. Besides what is the point of firing 122 mm asw missiles (which would <30 kg) thats enough for less than <500 meter range assuming it carries 15 kg warhead

I don’t think we know the exact purpose of those 122mm launchers yet. Unless you have a better source….?

u just made my point, it being its too small not even half the size diameter or length wise compared to even RBU-1000. It doesnt make for them to ASW rockets even if they were they’ll of little use due to their size.

The new DDGs do have ASW capability, otherwise you can explain those MLRS style charge launchers and the Z-9C/ Helix helos they have on deck. They’re meant as an expression of power with other countries, otherwise missile boats and subs would have siffice performing a blockade of Taiwan.

They are for chaff/flare launchers. The DDG nor the FFG have accomdations for TAS or VDS. Z-9C ASW capability are pretty limited due to their range and most PLAN’s surface combatants are being fitted with Ka-28 tasked for OTH purposes rather than ASW.

I think you’ve not quite had your eyes opend yet.

IMHO, in the eyes of the ChiComns, Taiwan is but a piece of cake.
Therefore, I suggest that you be just a wee more immaginative here — this
Chinese built up is not geared towards the Island. It clearly serves as an insurance policy
of sort (deterent if you will) against something much more gigantic.

Huh? everything PLAN has done so far has been taiwan centric, for example the new DDgs all lack ASW capability and are geared mainly towards blockade of taiwan. How exactly are these vessels geared towards taking on anyone else (considering how every single ASEAN member are loading up on SSKs).

PLAN will never get a operational carrier as long as PLAAF and PLA continue to view just a means to invade/blockade taiwan and not as way to project power, If RoC situation is solved both the forces will probably will cut PLAN spending and desolve it. Without the latter two changing their views its impossible for PLAN to go ahead and invest any $$$ into any future carrier plans.

    Edit:

I dont think even soviet union at its height built at such a rate.

Its not that high, there have been times when PLAN built 10 or 12 SSKs in 5 years during 70s mainly Romeo’s and Mings. USSR has topped that numerous times even nears its collaps in 85 to 90 they built around 18 SSN’s/SSBN.

There seems to be no differences in corvette design compared to CGI images i have seen which were released 2 or 3 yrs ago and also a plastic model of it found in janes 2003.
The naval artillery is A-190, anyway the vessel is build in a way that it can be fitted with 8 klub (in place of kashtan-m) and 2 vls 32 cell? tor SAM systems amid ship later on if russia wanted to. Its fitted with EW/ECM system similar to the one in talwar hidden behind the mast for those who are wondering.

If the ship can only do 30 knots and the missile is doing mach 3 it won’t get that far out of the targeted area. Also, I would launch proper anti-ship missiles at the same time, so switching off radar to counter a Armiger would leave it vulnerable to sea skimmers.

quit far if launched from 200 km, in 3 or 4 minute window a vessel any were in area of 50 sq km considering the range of IIR seeker wont exactly be easy to search.

This is the picture I have of SOSNA, which shows it slightly differently.

i assume u got the photo from the sosna brochure because i have exact photo as well cant believe i didnt see the difference. The brochure is from early 2003 when are those images of urs dated blackcat? Difference appearance could be as a result of russians tweaking sosna design which is still pretty much underdevolopment.

Amur will be built by L&T so scorpene’s production wont affect the former also there was also rumour of one Amur 1650 currently being built for export in russia and that might likely be purchased by india. My guess is that sub likely be used for testing for sub launched brahmos. As for advantage of VLS over sub launched klub, the kilo’s can carry any more than 4 Klubs and have to fire the missile at around 30 meters.

yeah AvsP managed to draw large auidence thanks to weak competition princess diaries and yugioh. I was expected to get 28 million but beat expectation by 10 million. All together alien franchise has grossed 305 million adj for inflation.

I think the SJ on the derelict ship was transporting the eggs somewhere, and somehow one of facehuggers got out and he was toast. Was he alone? If so, he had time to send a repeating signal.

he was along with a whole crew everyone obviously died the incident i believe happend 30 or 40 yrs ago befoe alien and there have been many rumours of why they were carrying the eggs (ex:using it as bio weapon against other species etc).

Yeah, but did they say that Kane was in sick bay for a few hours?

yeah they check the time and so on i am pretty sure they said that. Same applied to alien resurrection as well.

I don’t think they ever mentioned in Alien how long the incubation period was for a facehugged victim, did they?

i posted detalied link on facehuggers work earliar based on the first movie which has some juciy facts on it if u read that u realise its impossible for them to come out in anything less than 3 hrs let alone few mins.

The Newborn was a result of the genetic mixing with Ripley 8 and the Queen. Notice how Ripley got some Alien type traits? Well, like the doc says before he becomes a brain buffet, Ripley passed on the human reproductive cycle, kinda sorta.

Alien 5 was supposed revolve around this in some scripts posted internet. its mental disorder was due to ripley 8s emotional problem due to cloning. One of theory of Newborn is that queen attempt to create entirely new species and some have suggested its mammal looking at its cranium. Either way its pretty deadly species since it can grow to 3 meters just a hr after birth.

Alien 5 is more or less looks doubtful buy weaver keeps claiming that it will take place in the alien home world and scott said that it will focus on were the aliens came from and will also tie in the NewBorn. Either way AvsP will make their job lot harder. Also it will throw whole reason for Newborn out of whack which was created by queen to prefect the alien species.
