by your logic, USAF should replace its F-15s with Mig-21s.
this is the human resource of modern Japan. very sad.

this plane must be piloted by samurai who are willing to die for the Emperor. otherwise it is useless. the human element in today’s Japan is disappointing to say the least.

J-8II is an interceptor, what I meant was a bigger Q-5, using the same engines. The Fantan fighter bomber was comparable to an A-4, pretty limited in range and payload. It was designed in he 60s and PLAAF didn’t get the much more capable JH-7 until the 1990s. Seems to me a Super Fantan was within China’s capability to build and they badly needed a F-105 class fighter bomber.

Q-5’s successor was suppose to be the Q-6 πŸ™‚ A single engine, swing wing fighter bomber designed by Nanchang. Project initiated in mid-1970’s. Looks like a Mig-23 with belly intake. Shenyang proposed a fighter bomber version of the J-8II.
Problem with the development of WS-6 turbofan caused delay until the heavier and more expensive JH-7 powered by licensed produced Speys pulled ahead and the Q-6 project was cancelled.

    Segmented? Where?

(by the way, it’s old 70’s stuff. Someone had to say it – Sry).

I like the BL fence door with laser pre-cutting and punched/bent holes.

Mig-29 says its there. You can kind of see it in pic 3 he posted, but I think that’s a optical illusion.
Can a movable bleed air plate combine the function of eliminating boundary layer from the splitter plate and generating shockwave?

nvm, I think I know what Mig-29 means. What he calls segmented intake ramp is the movable bleed air plate combined with the piece behind it. together they also function as intake ramp.
compare to the solution on Eurofighter, which has fixed bleed air plate as part of the splitter plate and separate adjustable intake ramps on the lower part of the intake.

the design seems similar to Su-27 and Mig-29 intake design. but instead one large central strut to support the splitter plate, the Chinese design uses smaller individual struts, save some weight.
compare to the simple fixed intake of F-16, this variable intake obviously is going to have better performance.
with DSI, the performance is apparently good enough for J-10B to move to the simpler design.

I do not understand your point better i leave you a nice picture of the Intake of the J-10 where you can see the boundary layer bleed doors and the intake variable ramps that have a 30 degree rotation

i like this picture that shows the ramp and its perforations to get rid of the boundary layer, really nice technical detail of the intake

interesting pictures since they show the intake boundary layer bleed slots, the two segments variable geomety intake ramps for shock generation and boundary layer diverter

what look like segmented variable intake ramps in pic 3 are not present in the other pictures.

watch the video the at minute 0:32 they have the Kanjies η©Ίθ¦3000, this is KJ-3000, i do not speak Chinese at all, i do not know if it is an official designation or just a rumour as usually Chinese do, but the KJ-3000 is mentioned by some sources

There is nothing officially designated KJ-3000. KJ-3000 is just a name used by military fans when talking about the next generation AWACS. In the video you linked, the commentator said KJ-3000 may not be a AWACS, rather more E-8 type aircraft.

several weeks ago, someone on this forum suggested laying mines off Angolan coast to cut off oil flow to China. maybe the Angolans are reading this forum.

Chicombot =/= racial slur. Re-read the quote above. Chinese wanted certain aerodynamics characteristics, Kamov and SibNIA (i believe it was them, not TsAGI) made a helicopter with such characteristics. It isn’t more complex than that.

common theme, with same aim of diminishing the humanity of your opponent.
if you are Russian, you of all people should know that many neo-nazi groups in the baltic states, ukraine and other former eastern block countries, use opposition to communism as a camouflage of their racist views and aims. “chicom” is also a code word use by many ultra conservative groups instead of terms no longer acceptable such as “yellow peril”.

    for example,
“Even right wingers who dearly love oil and the devastation wrought by the extraction industry might react to this line of argument because they hate the Chinese, either because they look different from caucasians, or because their skin is slightly darker than caucasian skin, or because they are commies. Throw in the word “chicom”–a contraction of “Chinese communist” common in the 1950s and 60s and still commonly used among a particular circle of pea brained neo-McCarthyites even those right wingers who have learned not to display their essential racism can’t resist being goaded by the “c” word.”

i don’t know you. i don’t your intentional for using the term chicom. but you should aware that it is an obsolete term that hasn’t been in common usage for decades. the only people still use that term these days are racists who are too cowardly to express their view directly. so be more careful in your choice of words in the future.

Kamov designed Project 941. Kamov never claimed to have designed Z10. Kamov provided a basic aerodynamics design, experimentally confirmed that it is viable. That’s basically the function TsAGI played in many Soviet aerospace programs. We don’t even know how detailed was Kamov’s design. Kamov had nothing to do with Z10’s dynamic elements. Chinese firms took that basic aerodynamic design, made numerous changes, developed subsystems, integrated everything. Project 941 can be said to be a starting point for the aerodynamic design of Z10, nothing more.
The statement Kamov designed Z10 certainly can’t be justified.

    well said!
but the reemergence of neo-nazi groups in former eastern block is troubling.

So, the Hamilton’s can stay and patrol the area for long periods at a time, with helicopter’s used to ferry in/out any personnel or supplies that are needed urgently as needed. As in in PN service, the Hamilton has a 76mm and perhaps some 25mm cannon and HMGs, not unlike Japanese or other nation’s coast guard ships

no Japanese coast guard ships have 76mm or larger guns. and Chinese coast guard ships generally don’t even carry fixed armaments. what would be the point of arming patrol ships with large cannons. these types of standoff are not solved by shooting. the first one to start shooting just give the other side excuse to escalate. look at what happened when Filipino coast guard shoot at an unarmed Taiwanese fishing boat and killed its captain last year.
now go back to the Scarborough Shoal standoff in 2012, a Hamilton class was sent to arrest Chinese fishermen, two unarmed 1000ton Chinese cutters with shallower draft was able to outmaneuver the deeper draft Filipino ship by position themselves between the Hamilton and the fishing boats. Hamilton retreated with accomplishing anything.

to say that Kamov designed the Z10 would be like saying TsAGI designed all the Soviet fighters. obviously ridiculous.

the Hamiltons are the worst possible choice for Philippines. They are too lightly armed to function as real warships, and too big and unwieldy to function as patrol vessels in the shallow water around the shoals. The long range of the Hamilton is also useless because the area of conflict is about 100nm from Filipino bases. They are too aggressive in appearance to use as counter to unarmed Chinese coast guard vessels and fishing boats, but can’t maneuver against smaller vessel in an area where even small patrol vessels are constantly in danger of running aground. The most likely end of these hand me down ships is that they will accidentally run aground on some shallow shoal and rot away in place. Philippines would be much better served with a large number of smaller shallow draft patrol ships and a number of landing craft/transport support vessels to better supply the island garrisons.
Philippines will never have the resources to face up to PLAN in a straight up battle. But the South China Sea conflict is not even a military conflict. Thus far, China has only send unarmed coast guard vessels to safe guard its sovereignty and protect Chinese fishermen who have fished these waters for countless generations. This conflict is more like the Cod Wars than Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Since you are talking about arresting American criminal politicians perhaps would you care to comment on this story?

here is another example of how western influences screwed Philippines. and why socialist policies are necessary to bring poor countries out of poverty.

let me clarify. i meant of course, the life of Chinese people are clearly better than they were before. of course, the people in the US are still wealthier, due to far longer period of wealth accumulation at the expense of the rest of the world.
as you can see, “Chibots” have different opinions.
