The point I was trying to make is that if Airbus aircraft were so bad why on earth is it the best selling manufacturer in the world? Judging by comments heard on various aviation forums it’s some kind of miracle the buses don’t fall off the sky! And yet airlines keep buying them by the bucketload, and they do generally fine. So are airline bosses completely incompetent and riding on their luck? Should they step down immediately and let aviation enthusiasts take charge of the airlines, since they clearly know which aircraft to buy and which to give a miss?
Or perhaps things tend to get blown out of all proportion sometimes?
Falling out of the sky, well not yet, but I believe a Virgin A346 had a flame out due to fuel starvation because of a faulty fuel computer.
Also, the bean counters are the ones choosing the aircraft types now and if you believe that they always make a correct decision may I suggest you wake up and smell the coffee.
If my thoughts are correct, next week, I will be able to show you exactly what I mean.
Any personal preference skycruiser, as something you could end up flying in years to come if you stay with CX?
I am hoping for the B777-300ER. Fingers crossed. 😉
Either that or hundreds of airline companies clearly don’t know the first thing about running a business, despite making profits year after year after year, and keep being conned into buying faulty and low quality products.
A miracle they’re still running eh?
Don’t know where you have been for the past 4 years, but not too many airlines are making profits these days, just record losses.
So yeah, it’s a miracle they are still running.
have CP ordered the 787 yet?”
No, not yet.
I know Manila will not be taking the A380.
Yeh, the Fuel Computer is an issue on the A346, although to my knowledge Airbus have been told by a few airlines and authorities to sort it out.
It begs an interesting question though….if the Airbus products are not so well liked by the airlines, and in particular with EK (if this really is the case) then why are we expecting an order from EK for 50 A350s? Surely if they were not happy with their Airbus widebodies they wouldn’t go for more (despite whatever attractive terms are offered)??
A fair point. My guess is that they are so cheap in the first place. 😉
Working for the company, are you not privy to that sort of information?????
They really have kept this one under wraps. Heard all the rumours, I have my guess but it will be interesting to see which way they go. 😀
I am 32 and work as a professional golfer, no, sorry a pilot. I work for Cathay Pacific flying the 744. I now live in Hong Kong, a cool place.
I am not surprised at all. I hear the A346 is having more problems, this time with the fuel computer.
I think you’re wrong.
If you’re an all out Airbus customer it might be interesting to add an airplane who will benefit from fleet commonality with other Airbuses. The cockpit design and function are virtually the same making it a small step to move pilots from A320/A330-or whatever to A350.
Too many people think this is a huge advantage, I agree it is an advantage but only a very small one. Not large enough to decide on an aircraft to purchase or lease.
I have spoken to many management types who decide on future aircraft and it really doesn’t have much input into the decision of adding more/new aircraft too a fleet. 😉
wicked stuff.
It will be interesting to see which way CX go, a few rumours are floating around, but let’s see what happens. 😀
I remember reading a quote from either Michael O’Leary or Stelios, that there are far to many middle managers at BA’s Waterside HQ sipping Cafe Latte’s and not working, and thats why BA wouldnt survive as an airline
I have to agree.
Pilots forgetting to use more flaps isnt uncommon but I doubt that was the case here.
I would disagree with that.
How about you cynics get off your behinds and go and show us how to start up an airline as it should be done then! in stead of putting down those with the balls to try
well said! 😉
