Monster,
Thats a bit of an old email. Not really news for us over here.
Also we were not told to take 4 weeks unpaid leave, it’s a special leave scheme and it’s purely on a voluntary basis. Just to let you know that as of today over 88% of the pilots have signed up in the company s interest.
With the cash reserves and losing $3m a day the company could run well into next year. SARS is on the decline rapidly here so I feel things will start to improve in the coming months.
On the news last night it stated that not one person has contracted SARS in an aircraft worldwide.
Things wouldn’t have been this bad if the media had not attacked this story like a pack of hungry wolves. I have no respect for most of todays media.

Hi Purser,
Which airline do you work for?
There are a few of us here who also work in the industry.
Welcome.

If I might step in on this one,
Airworthiness requirements are for a twin engined aircraft that has suffered an in flight shutdown, should land at the nearest suitable airport. It is the decision of the Commander as to the relative suitability, if more than one airport is available.
The captain would keep the passenger informed at all times of the situation and would tell them that they are diverting.
Just for info, a 3 or 4 engine aircraft can continue with it’s planned route if it suffers an in flight engine shutdown. Only if it loses another (2 engines) it has to comply with the above requirement.
Thanks for the info SAAB.
Some operators do have a 207 min etops approval.
Your right WYS! Not a chance.
Are Aurigny getting an ATR, if so are they wet leasing or training there own crews up?
well, I have to say that mine is Cathay Pacific Airways.
If Aurigny do operate in to Gatwick then what equipment will they use. The saab340 is not big enough. I bet the Airport authority doen’t want a 34 seater flying in to Gatwick either.
A states owned airline, now that will be interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I have just spoken to WYSIWYG and he is operating down to Seville as well. Looks like a lot of fans will be travelling.

i flew this one back from london last week
I think it’s bad reporting. I don’t see people getting sucked out of the aircraft at those sort of heights.
It’s strange timing though, I have just got back from London and during the flight I went for a quick walk downstairs. I was chatting to the the cabin crew by door 2 left and as I was looking out of it I thought what would happen if the door blew open. Mind you we were at 37000 feet.
Scary thought.

Hey Kabir,
I hope it will be used for a driving range, I need somewhere else to hit my balls.
I flew right over it the other day. Part of it has been used as a Go cart track, I think that’s closed down now. A bowling alley as well but mainly dug up now. I think it’s a sorry sight seeing it in ruins.
shame it no longer happens!
