The captain sits on the left so he can eye up the good looking ladies first as they get on.

    [updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-11-02 AT 05:25 PM (GMT)]Batbaby,

SAAB 2000 is correct, all services in and out of Alderney will remain unchanged. It will be the JSY, GCI and possibly the DNR routes which will see a change in aircraft type.

SAAB 2000, don’t forget that the Twin otter will get in to Alderney.

OK, Latest rumours are that we might be getting another shed and laying off a few tri-landers. The new shed will be for pax or cargo only, so it will not get battered with all the quick change config for the night mail. Currently interviewing for Shed guys,(WYSIWYG tell our friend NE to get a cv in ASAP). Also recuriting for SAAB Captains, I think we need more crew for next year as we are staring the Bristol route. About the ATR, I have heard that by 2004 Aurigny will have ATR,s.

    Regards.

As most of Cathay’s fleet are powered by RR, they benefit from cheaper maintenance and purchase costs.

The only engine that is not RR is the CFM56-5c which is the A340-300.
    thy use;
    RB211-524H on the 747-400
RR Trent 800 on the 777-200/300
RR Trent 700 on the A330-300
RR Trent 500 on the A340-600

    Hi Guys,

With response to some of the above posts I totally agree with wysiwyg. I have heaps of friends who have been qualified for years trying to break into their first flying job, but to no avail.
One of these friends did his flight training with cabair 3 years ago and was told that he would be sure of a job after he gained his license, and you guessed it, he is still looking for work.

With regard to elationairways and your friend in BA, I am afraid that we all have very good friends who are senior and standards Captains in BA and they can’t even help their own son’s, let alone friends.

Elation, please don’t be put off trying to become a pilot, I hope you do accomplish your dream. Just please don’t believe everything you here in the aviation world, it really is a cutthroat business.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any help, at the end of the day I was in you shoes once.

And good luck with your dream.

I saw the above aircraft at Manchester this morning. I hear that BMI are stopping the Washington route for the winter.

RE: Pic Of the Day-Raw Power!

Here are some pro’s about this engine, for those who like that sort of thing.

The engine is physically shorter because it has less
compressor and turbine sections because it is
shorter it flexes less, is more rigid, and therefore
gives better engine performance over the life of the
    engine.

The LP, IP and HP sections all work closer to their
optimum performance levels because they have
    their own shafts.

They have better fuel consumption, and lower
    noise.

    Better thrust to weight ratio.

Easier to start because only one shaft has to be
    turned.

Modular in construction, easier to build and
    maintain.

    Better propulsive efficiency.

Good luck to them. Over recent years Bournemouth has had its fair share of airline failures, lets hope this will be the start of things to come in this low cost world we are living in.
