Syrian MiG-23 in action

A picture released by the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in December 2011 shows a Syrian [MiG-23] aircraft. A huge explosion on Saturday rocked a Syrian military airport on the outskirts of the capital, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported. (AFP Photo/-)

This guy is one of the primary reasons I dislike EADS and find most of it’s backers arrogant and in need of a good ol Americano ****-kicking…
The US Air Force’s Tanker Gamble
EADS, although understandably frustrated that it has now lost a contract it had won so decisively in 2008, needs only to sit back and wait until it can bid on the two other tanker replacement contracts, KC-Y and KC-Z, by which time Boeing’s performance on the KC-X will have become a matter of record.
Finally, it is worth noting that, despite all the hysterical rhetoric to the contrary, the issue of subsidies did not even come up, given the margin of Boeing’s victory. The more extravagant claims by some pundits that “illegal” government subsidies would allow EADS to underbid Boeing and to win unfairly were shown to be just the ill-informed, partisan rants they were.
EADS has been and will continue to be subsidized and it gave them a huge pricing advantage….FACT!!!
The USAF made the RIGHT CHOICE…so suck on it Briganti!!!! :p
EADS does a trememdous job with its limited experience…I predict they’ll probably win the next USAF tanker replacement at the end of the century. :diablo:
Let’s face it, EADS was trying to swim in the deep end without its floaties….this decision was for the best. :p
Maybe this was debunked a while back and I missed it, but wasn’t there something about the 767 being the right size for most of the USAF bases both home and abroad?
congrats to Obama and Boeing. Chicago wins again!
Now if only the Cubs can pull off an even bigger miracle…. 😀
My official reaction…

seriously, if they’re offering a smaller plane and have a significant fuel-burn advantage, why the heck do they cost so much more?
Airbus is pulling their pants down to their ankles in order to get the deal…. Boeing has homecourt advantage (ie the patriotic American taxpayer on it’s side) so it doesn’t have to pull theirs all the way down.
:diablo:
There is bound to be “life” in abundance elsewhere in the universe but I do not believe that any form of sentient “alien” has ever visited the earth. As to whether we will achieve in reality what we see on film in fantasy is pure conjecture, but given that we have several millenia to do so, it would seem more than likely. And no doubt at some point in the future the “little green men” will come a’calling.
Not if (89959) 2002 NT7 has anthing to say about it…
😉

Doubt it. Mazda used to sell a little car in New Zealand in the 1970’s called the Mazda 808. I suppose they must still have the rights.
I reckon the ‘Stratoliner 2’, after the fifties prop-liner, would be better.
Are you stating that Mazda could actually buy the rights to the number “808”…
So, you honestly believe it’s simply poor “marketing” that’s holding the Dhruv back from winning more international orders?
Interesting.
Congrats Mr. 767-1001… 😎
