In addition to this the fuselage and wing parts would be immediately available from NZ without the additional modification costs.
Immediately? 😀
The engine pick up fittings look familiar. Nothing else rings a bell.
Its similar to one of the fittings on a double-legged undercarriage (ie. Lanc, Mossie, etc), where the cross supports attach to the strut.
Not Mossie. Mossie U/C cross-bracing has forked ends that are attached to eye bolts.
Part ID 45 here – front entry door striking plate.
Still trying to think where the bit with the chain could be from…
I’ll have a look in the book tonight for the part ID, if no one beats me to it. That part with the chain is bugging me, it looks familiar but I can’t place it…
Try the first image here. Everyone’s favourite aircraft just got a little better. I quite like the “Giant Robot Corps” war bonds poster on page 7 of the thread too…..
Maybe the mosquito photos will be useful for modellers building the Airfix 1/24 scale version!
Not just for the modellers – thanks for posting.

The link? Part of Lyttelton harbour, as viewed from DC3 ZK-AMY (ISIHAC enthusiasts will understand).

Another deHavilland product, another ZK reg.

Another deHavilland cockpit
ZK-APK, the Mangaweka DC3 in TwinOtter’s post is now in a slightly more orthodox colour scheme.
For those with less sophisticated tastebuds this dining experience is available just up the road. ZK-CAW, an aircraft with a long and varied career.

Thanks for linking us to that site.
They are doing a superb job, and the photos are very informative. I never knew how complex the Mossie was, used to sit there thinking of one of my uncles who was a carpenter, and had worked on repairs to them at Little Rissington.
Knowing his toolkit of saws, hammers, screwdrivers, etc, I thought they were nailed and glued like any old cupboard.
There are ample small brads and brass screws throughout the structure so it’s not completely un-cupboardlike, although the strength comes from the monocoque construction, as noted by others.
The RNZAF museum has suffered a similar fate in recent years. The museum is located on the site of the former RNZAF Base Wigram in Christchurch which closed in 1995. The aerodrome facility continued to be used by civilian operators until March 2009. A residential development is now planned for the site.
And then there is the slow, subtle, and quite beautifull Dr Strangelove opening sequence, KC-135 and B-52 heaven.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels that way. 🙂
How about the Short Solent 3 masquerading as a Boeing China Clipper in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

I’m racking my brains to remember what it looks like, but I have an idea that there is an assembly similar to the one in the middle-bottom of the first picture (appears to have a universal joint) that operates the 4 way fuel c0ck in the engine nacelle of the Mosquito. I’ll have a look next weekend.
Sorry, I put you crook with that one. I found a picture of what I was thinking of, #82:
