Hi, glad you got it. Yes it was for the C1 as you refer.
The highlighting was for another person who wanted those parts, I was able to supply most except the forward nose door.
Also, the manual for our Mk 8 (ex G-ASMG) states that panel and radio fit is ‘as per operators requirements’, so there are effectively an infinite number of variations possible.
redhillwings- I’ll send you an email, via your museum contact page, a scan of some pages from the IPC, one of which shows the panel layout.
This is a shot of a RNZAF Mk 1 cockpit (NZ1820):

And at the bottom of this photo are a couple of main panels and a couple of centre engine panels (apparently both are from NZ1820 as well).

For redhillwings- all Doves/Devons could have the de-icing fitted. Our Mk1 and Mk8 both did at some stage.
Looks like our Dove Mk 8 panel- I’m not sure when this type of panel came into use, the Mk 1’s I’ve seen are a basic 6 panel in front of the pilot and a centre mounted 10 instrument cluster for the instruments.

It looks like your panel has been modified to display more navigation instruments instead of the co-pilots panel.
Thanks, the closest I could find quickly was a P-38 stamp, but it was slightly different. Someone has suspected Ventura at some point as there is a masking tape tag on one that reads ‘possibly Ventura’. If anyone has a pictue of a Ventura and/or Hudson box, please put it up or pm me.
Thanks
Though, if I may point out the obvious, WV666 and WW397 have differing versions of the same markings. Look at the positions of the yellow fuselage band, the fonts for the serial and ID letters, the spacing of the ID letters, and the location of the fin flashes wrt the rudder hinge line.
Please could someone kindly see if there is a medal he was awarded and see if you could obtain it for me please, as I would love to have it if I could please?
Diane, if a medal was awarded and he had it in his possession at the time of his death, it should have gone to his parents with his personal effects. If it was awarded post humorously it should have been presented to his parents (or next of kin if married etc). If one is available but has not been awarded (e.g. it was issued post war and had to be applied for) then I believe there is an application process for relatives.
Hopefully someone will be along shortly to point you in the correct direction or correct any of my comments.
Again, probably not.
But if there was no body or only pieces, sand was used to increase the weight of the coffin to make it seem full. This practice would have been fairly common and would have been talked about so if the story got about that someones son had died in a crash then eventually someone would tell the story of ‘someone they knew who knew someone who’s son was buried, but wasn’t really because it was really sand’. It wouldn’t take much for this to occur for any crash victim.
I’ll also add that crashing an Anson would not be likely to give enough of a destructive event to completely obliterate a body per the story. whether it was on fire in the air or not.
Also, if it had been on fire in flight per the heresay, it is likely more crew would have tried to parachute clear.
“Late that evening or early on the morning of the 13th and possibly alcohol fuelled, they made their journey home. When they were in the vicinity of the canal bridge, which is about half way between Lyneal and Welshampton, they became aware of an aircraft flying overhead towards Lyneal with one of its engines on fire.”
Hearsay from a 5 y/o about what probably unreliable eyewitnesses saw.
It’s more likely that the Board of Enquiry were correct, but there is a very slimly possiblity they were not.
Mit also has NZ1806 which was aquired from Woodbourne at the same time as NZ1805.
The RNZAF held 1 aircraft to add to their historic flight but that is now unlikely to happen, though they still have the aircraft in Ohakea, not sure of the number.
“Hi Scrooge, did you mean Wyvernfan? ;)…. As there’s nothing in my PM inbox!”
Definately Vampirefan, refer pg1 post 13- Devon/Dove bits
Vampirefan- I sent you a pm.

Is a nose wheel tyre of any use to anyone? Looks unused. Currently in NZ.
Varsity, righto, I think I’m with you now, those are 4U 251. See pictures, it’s the one covered in grease.

4U 251- 3″ 5/16″ total length, threaded section is 7/8″, rounded end part with lockwire holes is 5/16″ as is the hex. Can’t tell you the actual thread right now, but if I remember I can get it checked.
