There’s a whole world of information out there for you to find. Always have a good look first, then ask the question.
There is also a mass of misinformation out there. Personally, I dont see a problem in going straight to the experts. Nobody forces anybody to respond.

Mmm, I prefer the look of the Mk.1 myself. Well done chaps, it looks fantastic. 😎

Thanks chaps, most interesting. I wonder how the Joes felt about exiting the Stirling, given the close proximity of the door to the tailplane? 😮

Hi Nicks,
The FTUs trained mainly RAF crews (a handful of Soviet pilots and navigators went through 302 FTU) and checked out their aircraft for overseas flights. AFAIK they had no dealings with the ATA.

Great picture! The grass seems a trifle long, was this a forced landing?

Major Chris Draper DSC flew under 15 of the 18 Thames bridges in 1953 at age 61 in a rented Auster.
He did this in protest at the way Government was treating ex servicemen.
He flew under 2 bridges circa 1930 for the same reason, cant remember the a/c type !!
By pure coincidence 😉 there was a press photographer near Westminster ? Bridge.
Didn’t Draper fly under the Tay Railway Bridge while based at Dundee during WW1?

The Aussie National Archives will very likely have a digital copy of the 460 Squadron ORB at their site.

I’d be willing to bet that the aircraft is a Hawker Audax.
