This has been debated alot already. The airport website shows the Robin Hood links; I (incorrectly) thought Robin Hood had no links to Doncaster until I looked here..
I can partly understand the reason why the locals want the airport re-named as Doncaster/Finningley. But realistically this won’t happen. The airport has to carry a name of a city/area that is recognised abroad(to generate more inward travel) and Finningley is hardly known in most parts of England. The airport is also not in Doncaster so I see no problem calling it Doncaster/Sheffield.(Robin Hood is a bit ott though) Let’s face it this policy has worked well for Ryanair. I don’t agree with all their destination names but it draws the customers which is the most important factor.
Imagine if you had been inside the red/white hut; hearing all the noise/commotion you go outside to find a 747 pulled up alongside!!!

Oneleft; titles “Operated on behalf of Caribbean a/w” ??
Grey area; Yes, I meant the Trident.

I’ll second that; imo Humberside could support at least a daily Dublin service. It wouldn’t take traffic away from KLM and offers a direct destination other than ABZ and AMS.

I would expect some 767 operated routes to be upgraded to MD11s. These would be displaced from certain routes which in the future would be operated by 777s…. This has already happened on the AMS-Lagos route. On another note, I am pleased to see that the only KLM 767 I’ve flown on will be the last one to be retired.

Question for the day; Martinair a/c used to carry the “Martinair Holland” title; why was the “Holland” dropped?
The answer is not as obvious as it first appears..

Excellent shots. 1 question: what does the ZI-009 refer to on the KLM (as oppose to the aircraft’s normal reg)?
This refers to a/c reg. PH-KZI and a/c no. 9 in fleet.

I think some of the aircraft reductions are beacuse aircraft are needed elsewhere.
Belfast
Bristol
Hamburg
Berlin
Stockholm
Moscow???
Lagos???
Beijing???
Shanghai???
Possibly but the first 5 destinations will be operated by 757s; none of which are being displaced from the reduction in capacity elsewhere..
