I’m off to New York on Thursday on one of those shiny new B777s. KLM seem miles behind their competitors with the standard of econ. seating/IFE on their a/c. Only the 7 x B777s have PTVs; the MD11s have ancient interiors and the B747-400s aren’t much better. You were lucky to get on a B737-800 on the MAN-AMS service; these are usually 300/400s.
What is it like in economy on the A300s?? I’m going to Egypt on one next Easter so I’m eager to find out what it is like.
Not brilliant imo; zero legroom and quite narrow seats. Unfortunately the A300 falls into the same category as the B767; whereas scheduled operators fit 2-4-2(A300)/2-3-2(767) seating, the charter carriers squeeze 3-3-3 and 2-4-2 configurations into them.
Lucky to get 2 x Finnair a/c in new cols and parked on adjacent stands.
for those without the latest issue of flight check; you will find that most of these are new to the september edition. I also add the DC-10 is now operating to Sanford again.

Strange that the flights don’t tie up(if they are positioning); why 3 x A320 arrivals from LBA and no flights back to LBA?
These are all the A320-111 a/c currently in service..
G-BUSB/C/D/E/F Ordered by BCAL and inherited by BA.(Only 1/2 were del. in BCAL col)
F-GGEA/B/C/D/E/F/G Ordered/operated by Air Inter; now in Air France service.
F-GFKA/B/D/E/F/G Ordered/operated by Air France.(GFKC lost in accident)
Thomson/Britannia have based 3 of the B737-800s in the UK before. IIRC one a/c operated from LBA. Fleet were reg. G-BYNA/B/C
That sounds like a good money-making scheme. Airline sells you headphone connectors but they don’t fit all their a/c !!??
The economy cabin & seats on that Thai B777 look pretty basic imo. I thought most(if not all) B777s had PTVs? Do they operate these a/c on long-haul flights?
Pembo330; check your post on pprune. I’ve posted the links for the seatplans there.
On this topic, I thought you might be interested in the services that British Caledonian used to operate to Africa:(note some of the routings!!)

For any BCAL fans check the photo link..
The 767 was probably used due to extra demand for Edinburgh festival visitors.
My vote goes to Gordon Bethune – CEO Continental a/l. Under his leadership the airline was transformed from the worst to the best US intercontinental carrier.
Great to hear that you had a good holiday and even better to see such amazing photos. Nice to an Air Portugal A340, not something I’ve ever seen in the flesh.
Welcome back anyhow! 🙂
I hadn’t seen any TAP A340s until June; then went to Lisbon and saw all 4 together on the ramp there..
Brill pics tony 😀 did you get that a330 mytravel thats behind that a320 mytravel? or the reg of it?
That looks like an A321 to me..
Good point; the free food is usually rubbish anyway. I prefer a cheap flight which is what the locos offer and some scheduled carriers have followed suit. I flew MAN-BCN with Iberia back in April for £68..absolute bargain imo. OK they now charge extra for food but 5 years ago this flight would have cost @£150.
