Great shots; I thought the BY B767 was only operating in May/June from LBA; is it now staying for the whole summer season??

Afaik Egyptair change their colourscheme about once every 30 years and the current one looks quite modern anyway.

I’ve read that the NW DC10s are very well maintained and some have been re-painted in the new cols; interestingly most(if not all) of their current fleet are s/h. NWA were one of a few airlines that operated DC10-40s with P&W engines; then @10 years ago acquired some DC10-30s which I believe are the only ones still in service.

I guess that I’ve been quite lucky with wide body trijets:

    Nov 1982 LGW-PMI, Aug 1984 LGW-FAO-LGW, JUL 1986 LGW-ALC-LGW All British Airtours Tristars
    Mar 1986 LGW-RHO-LGW Cal Air DC10-10
Mar 2000 ZRH-LHR Swissair MD11 This flight was chosen specifically for the a/c…SR/LX used to operate the MD11 on the first flight every day. I managed to get an upgrade and actually sat in the First class cabin..shame the flight only lasted 1.5 hrs.
Feb 2001 IAH-EWR Continental DC10-30 A bit of cunning was needed here as when I searched for flights to book; most consolidators were offering a 757 flight but I managed to find a DC10 flight which turned a EWR connection from 1 hr to 3 hrs but worth it.
Jul and Oct 2001 AMS-LOS-AMS KLM MD11.. 2 interesting return trips to Lagos, Nigeria.
Jul/Aug 2005 ..maybe off to Cairo on business so hope to get another KLM MD11 trip.

Good news for Dublin; I’m really suprised that Emirates missed the boat here. If they can operate @10 daily flights to the UK then surely there must be some demand to/from Ireland?

I’ve flown with them 4/5 times and most flights were on time and they were cheap. TBH they should be cheap as they don’t operate into many(if any) primary airports abroad so if I needed to go to say Barcelona or Oslo or Rome then I would look at other options. Easyjet prices are still competitive and they operate to the larger airports so why can’t Ryanair? I also find the Ryanair “experience” has been taken a little too far regards seat comfort. Fitting non-reclining seats and cramming in as many seats as possible and no seat allocation is not so great when your flights last 2+ hours. Ryanair should also change some of their rules; such as the no connecting flights rule. ie. If someone flies from PIK to STN then onto say Oporto(no direct flight from PIK?); the first flight could be delayed(in some cases Ryanair fault) and the passenger misses their second flight. Ryanair will not compensate for this in any way ie. offer a seat on the next avail. flight. Afaik all traditional scheduled carriers would do so and often their fares aren’t much more so imo Ryanair could be losing passengers here.

Some great shots there; it’s a pity that FlyGlobespan can’t paint all their new? 737-800s in the same colourscheme.

Some great photos there; I’ve never seen flight refuelling tankers with the airport name on the side. They’re usually the refuelling co. ie. Air BP or Jet etc

Like the PIA 777/747 shot; I’m suprised to see KLMC F70s at MAN. Are these common? I would have thought F100/737s would be used on all flights.

Great news; I am always pleased to see smaller regional airports supporting long haul flights. Considering the obvious demand I am amazed that PIA completely missed the boat here; they even have suitable a/c in the A310 (I assume 777/747 too big)

Back in August 1985, we went on a summer holiday to Yugoslavia flying LHR-Ljubljana with JAT. We got the expected a/c going out(727) but coming back the a/c was changed and we flew back on a B707 YU-AGI(one and only trip)…I remember that non-smoking section was on the right and smoking on the left(cabin crew just smoked anywhere) and the overhead bins were just racks like on coaches.

Ryanair seem most active in Italy; maybe they will be the first loco to serve some of those airports.

I think some body must be dreaming; I live near Lincoln and would wlecome anything to boost the local economy. But another airport? Not likely when they can’t even get GNER to re-instate the old Intercity rail service from Lincoln to London. Lincoln is growing fast and becoming a vibrant city(in contrast to most of Lincolnshire which seems stuck in a time warp) but we have to be realistic here.
