    All Thomsonfly scheduled are 735s.

They are getting 737-300s which are slated for DSA.

I had a look at their website this morning and am suprised by some of their destinations and schedules. Why Valencia? They will fly to Alicante and Malaga and don’t serve VLC from Coventry.
The times of the Paris flights seem odd imo. The flights to CDG depart at 1915/arrive at 2130 which seems a bit late. Surely if you’re going for a weekend break, you want to maximise your time there ie. arrive early as possible and leave as late as possible.
I was also expecting flights to AMS and BCN; infact these were top of my list..maybe they couldn’t get any decent slots there.
Regarding their routes already announced ; I don’t see too much competition from MAN/LPL/LBA. If you live in North Notts/South Yorkshire/Lincolnshire then DSA is by far the easiest/nearest airport to reach.

I spotted the advert on the airbridge; seems a bit strange that RBS(Royal Bank of Scotland) are advertising in Germany?

    Hi all

Been informed by a mate of mine who works at LBA

He has been told that jet2 have plans to announce new routes from LBA once they known where Thomsonfly will be flying to from nearby Rodin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport. Those flights will be announce this week.

So anyone wants to guess the new routes?

Also he has informed me that bmi baby will take over flights to Cork & Jersey with W leged aircraft from other Airports so to allow bmi regional to start once daily flights to Copenhagen with ERJ135 and Frankfurt with a ERJ145.

Seems a bit cynical imo. Don’t Jet2 do any real consumer research? I like Jet2 but LBA location is hopeless for anyone living outside immediate area. Let’s hope that Thomsonfly and Jet2 don’t get involved in cut-throat competition and offer a good choice of services from both airports.

Well Jet 2 can’t neglect LBA too much or flybe will come in with Malaga, Murcia etc on B737-300’s

Perhaps there trying to build up MAN incase Easyjet do go in

I thought that Jet2 already served Malaga and Murcia from LBA? Would Flybe compete head-to-head on these routes? Flybe should start LBA-EDI/GLA; give some competition to BMIR. That should reduce the fares..

I’ve flown on KLM 67 times in the past 4 years and would say the service within Europe has declined but is about average now compared with other carriers. You get more legroom than the locos and a snack(usually roll/sandwich & drink) but the a/c are generally older and in worse condition inside than BMI/BA a/c. The seats are also very basic ie. no leather or adjustable headrests etc. The F70s are usually not too bad but the F100s(all ex-KLM UK) really need a re-fit inside. Many B737s are well used and similar to F100s. You may be lucky and get a B737-800/900 on the AMS-MAN sector.

Good report; I agree with your comments relating the KLM 767 to the 777. Personally, I don’t rate the KLM cabin crew. This year I’ve flown KLM(4 times), BA(6 times), Iberia, Jet2, and Ryanair and would rate the KLM crew near the bottom of the list. Regards the 767 retirement schedule..first a/c leaves in January 2005.

This link shows location of Doncaster. The airport is actually @4 miles south-east of the town(other side of M18 m/way). It is well located to serve many surrounding towns/cities in South Yorkshire/North Notts/Lincolnshire.

Good news for LBA but the routes are hardly headline-making..Exeter/Southampton? IMO LBA needs more services to France/Germany/Scandinavia..
