Guzzineil, I guess by your user name it’s a Guzzi. Not much of a screen for a winter bike?

Knowing that I have been party to bringing a smile to Snafu’s face!;)
And finally kicking the Royal Marine thread habit. Managed not to read any of the overnight posts so I’m clean at last!!!;)

I’m leaving it alone as well, it’s got rather repetative.

Paul, nothing to do with Paul Bruce.

The SAS did take out a lot of people, it’s a fact. Try Operation Flavius, that was too public, a bit like Marine A.

Respecting other peoples’ opinions is what matters not declaring them nincompoops or worse if you disagree with them.

Courts Martial we are told are in the hands of the military because only the military understand the particular circumstances of crime committed by servicemen. I am sure that is right which makes the judgement they reached on Marine A, unarguable.
An interesting but hypothetical question is if a criminal court with “12 good men and true” might have reached a different verdict, where all the mitigating evidence would have been presented by Defence Counsel.

Calling people ‘nincompoops’ doesn’t do any good.
Had Marine A been charged in a civilian court the result would have been the same, I’m sure given the evidence.
A Court Martial works the same way as a civil court. The accused has the same rights as a civillian has, he may try pleading mitigating evidence the same as a civil court defence would.
The difference is he will serve his time in a military nick rather than a normal prison.

Somehow I can’t see the red tops nor the other inmates giving him a bad time.

That was my point, the IRA could do what they wanted and they did.
We knew who the terrorists were, but due to Rules of Engagement they couldn’t be taken out. The army should have been able to take them out, but due to the rules it didn’t happen.
It did sometimes but that’s another story.

Scratches head ,yet another delusional comment.
Are you saying you are superior to a squaddie, you see them as some kind of lower being to yourself.

Don’t ask one squaddie, ask a thousand and see what the consensus is.
