Has anyone seen any photos of how they have removed the wings, if indeed they have?
Photos from last year when it was for sale then;
The RAFM has been publicly saying for a couple of months that they do NOT intend “restoration” or any other such activity.
Once they get it cleaned up and further corrosion halted they will stabilize the structure, then conserve and preserve it in “AS FOUND condition”, and put it on display in the entrance to the RAFM.
Are they going to keep it inverted? Is the upper side in a better state of preservation?
Would be nice if a Stirling could be recovered, but due to it’s size and weight it would cost millions. But who knows?
Hoping for a Good Win Dornier rather than a bad loss…
Ditto, finger crossed, many times.
Sad, but that’s business.
Newforest, maybe they had plans it sell her?
Not sure who would buy a DC8, not an fuel efficient a/c in todays world.
So two failures by BA, one by the engineering staff and one by the flight crew on walkround who missed a fault that seems to be well known. I wonder if the pressure of work to keep these aircraft in the air and earning money have any bearing on this?
Of course money and pressure won’t help.
But it’s no it wasn’t a ‘fault’, on a pre-flight check panels are/should be checked.
Too soon for seculation, but I guess some butts will get kicked, when/if that happens it will get passed around all the airlines and at the end of the day safer travel for all. That’s how investigations work.
Good news is that everyone safe.
8th of July for the first long haul flight. Will Thompson be using it on short haul flights for training?
GE engines:mad: Why didn’t they get the RR engines?
Charlie, what do you mean glass half empty………..Not us:)
Those scans look like a twin engine plane, could be a Do17:stupid:
Lets stay with sterotypes, before you soft southern shandy drinking ponces start:love-struck:
Did you know we have a very good airline?
Now then John, I can’t agree on that. Every single time I have been up in Yorkshire, I have found them very friendly, and although I am only a social drinker, I’ve had a few drinks out of them, and they paid.In fact, they insisted. :very_drunk:
Jim.
Lincoln .7
Can’t be true Yorkshiremen:eek:
We are not that bad, but we have our reputation to keep:very_drunk:
Chill Mr Merry 😮 It was an observation that the culprit pauses to read the inscription on the memorial that led me to believe that he wasn’t an average EDL member. Can’t be many of them that can do that!
Fair point.
Chill pill taken:)
What would happen if he objected?
After 30 years of friendship it’s not an issue. Had he objected I wouldn’t have called it the Pakasani shop. It would have been the Bangladeshi shop, after all thats where he is from.
