and EDI. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional to not mention them.
Looks like I could be heading to the show! 😀 😎
What’s going to be there on the public days? flying and static.
Would be surprised if AA went there.
So would I. CO seems more realistic going by their apparent like of the UK ‘regionals’ 🙂
Two things (apart from the angle of the sun) about that BA picture still nag at me .
1) If you look closely at the area around the tail and tailcone it looks as though it’s been matted onto the background.
2) Where’s the exhaust from the 4 engines? The background behind the rear of the aircraft should be blurred by the hot exhaust gases (compare with the IL62 picture). It doesn’t appear to be, though.
I wouldn’t doubt pics taken by that Sam Chui. He’s a professional! 🙂
Plus airliners.net would probably reject it if they had any doubts over it.
also, talking of new routes, Ren texted me to tell me this afternoon, and I’ve since looked it up a bit…

Good news, I was going to post it, but you beat me to it! 🙂
Duo’s EDI-Geneva route was one of their strongest out of them all.
Hopefully Flyglobespan can pull in a few business passengers, even though it is quite clearly aimed at Leisure and 95%+ of the passengers will probably be using it for leisure purposes! 🙂
I’m off to STN tomorrow, family duties, more next week hopefully. 😉
Don’t forget the camera! 😉 🙂
No – if I were the selfish type I wouldn’t share as many of my own pictures with you all, would I now?
But they are mine to share!
Anyway, I only asked what people thought – so lighten up yourself. :p
Ok, ok. :p 🙂
Lighten up man! If you had took any attention before having a moan, you would have seen the copyright is quite clearly intact on the bottom of the photos.
What’s wrong with sharing? or are you the selfish type? 😉
Bandwidth isn’t being wasted by me posting the links, if I were posting the pics as attachements on the other hand…..
Then why is it necessairy to extend the runway?
Concorde has V1 at 180 knots and rotates around 200 knots at MTOW ! But it can approach at a good landing weight at 140-150 knots, slightly faster than a 747.
It is still too short to comfortably operate the bigger widebodies on long-haul flights non-stop. Those 400m would make all the difference for the time being.
A couple of years ago we had European 742s doing flights to Sanford.
They had to make a tech stop in Gander on the outbound flight due to ‘runway limitations’.
Currently it is only long anough for 747s to New York and around that area.
How was concorde able to land and take off at Edinburgh? That must have been really tight!
Not at all! The runway is still about 8400ft.
AF can get their A340s off of SXMs 7000ft runway direct to CDG!
Concorde was only ‘popping’ down to LHR more often than not so was very light. Climbed like a fighter jet! Used no more than half the runway.
Shamrock, no airline will go against Ryanair on the DUB route, they have a monopoly. The only exception I can think of is MyTravel Lite from BHX, and from what I can gather, before Ryanair got rid of most flights out of BHX that was failing, but is now doing OK, with fewer RYR flights in there.
and Aer Lingus! 🙂
Fly be are soon to be getting A319s, will these be used on the new base?
Easy now, they’ve not even ordered them!
If they do get them they are for their ‘Scottish expansion’ that they have promised, and I much look forward to!
They are fab photos, I cannot wait till this weekend, I going on a tour of Concord at MAN
I hope missing that ‘e’ out was a typo!! CONCORDE 😉
Check out the site-related forum there. See if there are any answers.
The rail isn’t such a problem in Edinburgh. It’s more the hills behind it that blocks expansion. The rail isn’t such a big problem – tunnels are easily dug.
Actually it is, because the railways have to be flat and can’t have an incline it would need major re-routing.
Although apparently there is anough room for up to 400m expansion just now with the railway where it is, and the M9 at the other end.
