I must have just missed you, I was there for about 10 mins as a quick trip right on sun set. I saw my first Easyjet A319, G-EZEF. No departing aircraft though. It sure is a great view. 😀

Blame BAA! They think airport expansion means adding more retail outlets in the departure lounge! 😉

    MAN- 2 runways, 3 terminals
    STN- 1 runway, 1 terminal

For 2 airports with just about exactly the same passenger throughput that is crazy!

Thanks 🙂 It was a shame about the weather, I didn’t see any sun while I was there.
As it says, I have since flown Easyjet again, I did EDI-LTN on G-EZJA, -700s are much nicer inside. I can try and find that trip report to?

Wannabe Pilot, where are the Flyjet flights to?

I flew them last year MAN-HER-MAN, my worst set of flights ever, not that it was unbearable, but up till then I’d been lucky.
Between the outbound and inbound flight there was a 3 hour delay, no ife at all, no food(just those tiny rolls and butter).
Flew a Finnair 752 there, operating for Air Scandic, who were operating for Flyjet! 🙂
    Inbound, I got a Flyjet B752, G-FJEA.

Duo’s flight times are most certainly aimed at the business traveller, as is their whole way they go about their business.
Except from EDI-Bordeaux and EDI-Nice as they are weekend only flights, I’m sure there’ll be some from BHX as well.

Are you sure Air Scotland are running GLA-ATH, I’m not, you can’t book it for any dates on their website, whereas you can for all their other flights.

I’ve got a ridiculous fact about BA.
They only have ONE international route from Scotland. ONE!!!!!!!!

That’s EDI-CDG, which is actually BA Citiexpress and none whatsoever on BA mainline! 😮
All the rest stop at BHX and/or MAN before they arrive at the Euro destination.
That’s why I like Duo, they realised this huge void and now have more Euro routes than anyone out of Scotland. 🙂

I’ve never had a problem at EDI, it’s an excellent airport in that respect. I’ve never had a problem at STN either. I’ve only been to that place beside the perimeter fence where you need to stand on piles of earth to get a good view. You go along a bit of a country road to get there.
Is N608FE a regular at STN?
BAA have a sole traffic warden outside the terminal building at EDI. Who strolls backwards and forwards all day doing F*ck All. It’s stupid, but nevermind. :p

Last year was just over 7.5 million, I expect we shall break the 8 million barrier very soon! 😀 Unfortunutely BAA did a very bad job of predicting EDIs growth and so the airport itself is struggling to keep up with the passenger numbers. However, there is lots of development going on just now, and lots planned waiting to start.

I, like most, am not a fan of BAA at all, all their airports are like giant shopping centres, they should take a leaf out of MAN’s book, the best in the UK for spotting.

Sound great, might be paying another visit to STN in the summer.

Summer at EDI is looking better than ever. SAS have already started to ARN using 736. First summer here for Duo who have a large presence here this summer. Germanwings are back, I think EDI is a very strong route for them.
This year for the first time we have CO using 752, hoping for an occasional upgrade! 😉 and Transaero from Moscow using 737, again could see a 767 upgrade ocasionally? 😉
Thomas Cook are joining Air Transat for flights to YYZ. Plus the extensive charter program.

The Balkan Tu154s are nice to see again. BY have a 763 on the some of teir PMI flights in July and MON seem to have a based A321. Still no return of an Orlando flight! 😡
So far all the Billund flights have been cancelled.

EDI- currently at 7 and half million passengers, I expect we shall burst throught the 8 million barrier this year. 🙂 Growing at about 8% a month just now passenger wise, currently the busiest airport in Scotland, GLA will probably take that title over the summer. EDI also handles the most freight by far in Scotland.
1 terminal, 2 active runways though NOT parallel, 1 x wind. Parallel taxiways will be finished in the next few months of so, multi-storey car park also finished within the next few months.
Work should be beginning on the new tower soon, if it hasn’t already, and the next phase of development has not long been announced, including widening and lengthening the terminal building.
EDI has a good future ahead of it! 😀

The CEO of BMI announced his intention prior to 9/11 of transatlantic flights from EDI using their A330s, of course that all changed with 9/11 and as we can see never happened. Maybe second time lucky, even if it is specially configured A319s, not exactly open to Joe the public, more to business passengers only.

The same happened with CO. 9/11 delayed the commencment of EWR-EDI, heck if it had started when it was meant to, more than 2 years ago, we could be seeing the 777 by now! :p
