It’s a Mk 1 Wessex. The mk3s were always extra dark sea gray and yellow. Sonar in the cabin and a radome above the cabin. My first squadron out of training in 1973 was 771 then at Portland. We only had the mk1. 737 Squadron on the other side of the runway had all the mk3s and parented the county class destroyers ships flights.
A good picture of the sonar in this thread!

MM, can you help with any of the outstanding queries?
Yes, my mistake:stupid:
Clearly a HAS1 or HAS3, you can see the Gazelle engine exhaust holes and doesn’t half look like XS885 which was up for sale recently.
very nice 🙂
Am I misremembering that the spin coming from the Company several years ago was that the aircraft was in such a precarious and dangerous state that volunteers could no-longer be allowed access to maintain it?
Build as much of the cockpit as you can round it 🙂
Ouch!, sound advice
A jolly good publicity stunt I would say after no takers at £100 and then £75, I hope it becomes part of a nice cockpit project.
They are just a bigger version of the fighter type arent they?
It had never occured to me that they would be different – the bfps are the same after all
Have you got a clearer version for the larger top bracket?
No, but if you PM me your email address I can send you a .dxf file of the drawing that I made of the development. 🙂
Good job! You need to knock up some of these ….
Rotor Governor Null Indicator
Sits on top of the HAS1 panel, possibly modded out later. Has anyone got a decent picture of one of these?
Wessex HAS1 panel grows nose 🙂
John, that is great.
On the last page,
“inside the famous “Humphrey” HAS3. Unfortunately the instrument console is incomplete and many instruments are missing” :dev2: (see post#2)
Hi Smirky I have a few bits the panel is Part No. WB5 828(7 or 9) which I have always assumed is helicopter not got much in the way of bush switches a few lights which describe them selves as push switches and a few bridge lamps you can salvage the caps from if the correct type I also have more of the grimes pillar lights .
let me know if anything in the picture is of use to you
Looks promising, I’ll send you a PM later.
