I don’t think you could make one for that price! 🙂
Here’s some more structural-looking ones
It’s a bit more than countersinking since some of the square instruments/sub-panels are rebated all round. I agree though it wouldn’t put me off if I wanted one.
This looks like the one that was sold on eBay previously. If so it appears to have been machined out of solid and the face against the wall is not flat but has machined recesses. However looks the right way round as pictured:confused: so perhaps the presentation face should have the machined recesses
The inspection stamp is M in an oval with possibly something smaller before and after the M like *M* or oMo or .M. although the right hand side is poorly struck so that is guesswork.
Any ideas about that anyone??

about the 15th picture down
nice site with all sorts of aircraft bulbs 🙂
80W:eek:
Are you sure? It looks like just a little 5-10W bulb holder – car sidelight type.
Generic part, there seem to be LOTS of these around – wonder how many were made and where  Air Ministry crown so before 1944.
Yes, Lancaster there are three on the fuselage centre line red, amber and green. Wouln’t be suprised if they were on the Vulcan as well and everything in between. I have got one where the ring has had the part number machined off has been engraved with the later stores ref 5CX/3467
Get a bulb and wire it up 😎
and what about the holster thing bolted on the side? What period does that date from, does anyone know?
Just scrolled down to the bottom, suggestion that it might be Lincoln which seems to clear that up.
Merkle, i really hope this extra “publicity” helps you to move it on to someone who will appreciate it.
very nice, thanks for posting
spot on, thanks for posting 🙂
there is this one at Brooklands
You could try electrolysis I have had good results on rusty steel – even brought out the markings on a lightly rusted crash axe where none could be seen to start with.
making some of these 🙂
