This is the schematic of the Lorenz installation in the Lancaster, is this the sort of thing you need?
Yes, deffo looks like Beaufighter which probably explains the made in Australia bit.

not so easy to tell really

Lancaster B2 Instrument Panel
Just got my replica panel back from the waterjet cutters so I balanced some stuff on it to check it all fits …
Thanks for those kind words Peter. Yes, the 3rd rpm gauge is 1953 but still a 5000 rpm piston gauge not a jet one. The 4th rpm gauge is just a fake hole-filler because a proper one fouled on the box supporting the panel.
Cees, yes I am watching that one on eBay also. As you say, the lever doesn’t look like any I have seen in Lancaster photos. It is also Australian  Anyway I’m sure it will sell for loads of money.

sub-st inst DIAL
Just a thought -perhaps the simple answer is best, these are visual inspection standards for the dial painting. What do you think?
That’s an early one you’ve got then. Can anyone else post their serial numbers?? It would be interesting to get a feel for the total number produced each year.
Regarding the windfinding, the unit has two mechanical counters which count up and down in the N_S and E-W directions. Presumably the API gives a pulse output for every unit of distance travelled in the N, S, E or W direction. If one flys a “closed ground circuit” having pressed the reset lever then the final result should be zero readings in the EW and NS directions. The actual reading is due to the effect of the wind on the API. This error can then be calculated on the circular plotter and subtracted off the dead reckoning position provided by the API.
just had a look and it is marked

If you are lucky, it might have the aircraft number written on it in white ink.
Mine came off a Canberra.
Lancaster II cockpit photos wanted
Thanks for kind replies.
Yes I have got the AP for the LancasterII but it would be nice to have some more cockpit photos to compare – no two Lancaster cockpit photos look the same. I guess there is less variability with the Lancaster II since they only made 300 and probably all in the same place. I decided to do the MkII because there is none left and the I/IIIs have already been done, also they are associated with Sywell Aerodrome near where I live.
More photos anyone?
Regarding taking orders, I want to get the first one completed before considering that. Making too many might distort the market in gauges – four of everything and all
Lancaster II Instrument Panel
I have nearly finished CAD drawing for a replica Lancaster II instrument panel which should bring some of my gauges to life. I am going to get it waterjet cut from Tufnol.
I have some bad drawings but the only photo I have seen is the one in the Pilot’s Notes, can anyone help with more photos of a Lancaster II cockpit?
thanks
