    What about Snoopy?

    http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/airshow01/boscombe/xv208.htm

It says on the picture shown (taken ’91) she is retired. When did this happen?

I’m sure I saw her flying out of Boscombe only a few months ago.

    Stuka;

Whilst the Stuka certainly looks better I would never argue with anything of Russian build though!

    Typhoon special?

Perhaps but nothing looks better than a Tornado GR1 armed with 2 JP233s doing 500mph+ through the Welsh vallies at tree top level!

    Phwoar…..

    Taken last year…:(

Considering her age she seems in suprisingly good shape, although she is looking a little pale!

Forgive my ignorance but whereabouts is ahe ‘stationed’ now?

Whilst not strictly ‘air combat’ losses, how many aircraft were downed by flying through a stick of falling bombs during WW2?

I have heard of this happening (in distant past!) but cannot recall any details at all, can anybody else?

Well, I’d rather see my grandkids in cycling helmets than see them in Intensive Care.

    Anyone disagree?

No, not me. The scary thing is there will be parents and grandparents out there who will start spouting the ‘human rights, kids choice, nanny state’ rubbish and should their child be killed immediately look for someone to sue!

On Tuesday morning when I opened the curtains I saw a trailer parked opposite my house and fence a few doors down had graffiti sprayed on them during the night. I joked with my partner “I’d better check my car” and when I went to my car later I found I should of as I’d had one wing mirror ripped off.

I went to local station only to find it had closed to public on Friday so I went home and phoned 0845 number to report the vandalism.

After 25 minutes on the phone I was told graffiti would need to be reported by victims not by 3rd party and whilst I was given crime number and told of investigating officers details I am not expecting to read of any arrests in local media!

Give us a Police force that operates when we need them to and then things might start getting better, until then I’m going to dig myself a very deep hole and hide….!!

    Please explain the difference.

Pedal cyclists are not legally obliged to wear an approved safety helmet. Motor cyclists are. Is this because motorcyclists are perceived to travel at far higher speeds? Isn’t this a bit of a nonsense? The pedal cyclist is in just as much danger of collision with a fast moving vehicle as a motorcyclist? Junctions etc, when they are at their most vulnerable? I can’t provide figures to back this up but in my experience at a largeish hospital, cyclists wearing helmets did significantly better than those without.

If you don’t want to wear a helmet that’s fine. If you value your personal well being so little that’s ok. There should just be the proviso that cyclists not wearing helmets (and motorists without seat belts) should not receive treatment from the NHS.

Better to look a pratt in a hat than to spend the rest of your life as a cabbage.

When I was 16 I’d rather not have looked a pratt in a hat. As a result of me coming of bike on sharp bend at slow speed I suffered very serious head injuries resulting in 9 days in a coma, 3 months in hospital, 4 months in rehab and seeing my very real dreams of joining RAF as a pilot disappear.

Personally I think wearing helmets should be made law as under some circumstances pedal bikes can riden at similer speeds to the 50cc scooters you see around towns and those riders have to wear hats!
