Will it be shown again?
I missed it 🙁
I expect so as judging by what has been written on here I saw a very similer programme on TV a couple of months ago. I didn’t get to see this one either.
Were any of the Soviet aircraft of the old East German Air Force given to the US or any other Western nations for evaluation of Soviet military hardware capability?

All should now be just a little clearer… :p
Airworthy Gladiators, how about the Focke Wolf, Jet, Lightning, Tempest, Tornado, Hawk, Hunter or Vulcan?
I’ll get my coat….. 😮
Not so… XM697 was recently restored (2006), sold and moved Reynards Nursery (a garden center) in Carluke, Scotland, where it is on external display, thus….
Theres a large garden centre local to me with a decent amount of space out front. I wonder if I could persuade them to put a historic jet on display, a Hunter perhaps painted as if from ETPS at nearby Boscombe Down?
At about 11.45 I saw a biplane heading south probably flying a circuit from Boscombe Down. It had a dark fusalage, light coloured wings possibly white and what appeared to be RAF roundels on the underside of the lower wings.
Any idea what it might have been?
Link?
I’ve just had a look on Google and found nothing! 😡
As has been mentioned, Cosford is home to many, including the second Tornado Prototype, XX946 IIRC. One of the other prototypes went into the Irish Sea, killing the Pilot & Nav. There are others are dotted about in various locations.
I know some people will not class this as historic, but the first one flew in 1974, which means they are getting on a bit!
At 34 years old I think they can be classed as Historic.
Hang on a minute, I’m only 30, thats only 4 years away from being historic!
No, on second thoughts…..
P.1127 Harrier prototype at Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovil.
I know there is a Pucara at Middle Wallop Museum and I also believe an ex Argie Huey too.
Sorry I let myself get all confused, I know there is a Heuy there and I must have been thinking about one of the other fixed wings at Wallop 😮
I think the Chinook (AE-520/ZH257) and Puma (PA-12/ZE449) eventually ended up being incorporated into the RAF fleets and the two A109 (AE-334/ZE410 & AE-331/ZE411) ended up being used by that rough lot from Hereford (;)).
One HU-1H is flying in private hands in the UK.
Several Pucara are in UK museums (one was even test-flown by the RAF).
A lot of the captured aircraft were in poor condition and were expended in the Falklands as range targets.

I always thought my English was actually quite good…..

What is the German aircraft you can see the tail of (99*32) behind this Spitfire?
You can’t beat the Buccaneer at 11 feet!
