Some people REALLY lack the sense of humour π‘
Good one!
Brilliant! I’ve red it without stopping. It ‘s clear, neat, even for someone like me who only has vague knowledge of Typhoon / Rafale deep caracteristics.
You have to publish this one, really!
As it had been said, it was a harmless little joke… a joke, something to have fun, to laugh, a JOKE. Of course you need to have the sense of humour to appreciate such thing. I’m glad to see that many people here have it…
For others (mode “ignore phixer” ON).
First, the model is very, very well done. It was displayed on a pylon, and behind it were white and grey sheets of paper. This helped much :p
I’ve opened the pic with MS Paint, took “sample” of color, then used the airbrush mode to mask sheets and pylon details. Not too bad, but it was still a photo of a model, not an inflight aircraft.
So I put the pic onto a WORD file, then used the option “full screen”.
I then took a picture of my computer screen with a digital camera.
This method sounds strange, but it fully explain why the pic looks so “real”.
Then I’ve dowloaded the pic from the camera to the hard disk, and (again with MS Paint) cut the computer screen frame around the photo.
Et voila!
Phixer, please stop trolling my post…
You sir have just wasted some of my time and effort, not amusing when moving around is a struggle due to disability. Here I was trying to help out only to find it was a stupid prank and a thoughtless one at that.
Others may be more reluctant to answer questions such as this in future to the detriment of the forum.
Think before you post.
Mind you, people like you make it VERY amusing! Thanks for your help :diablo:
I’ll transmit him your message !!
That’s a funny fake from someone at the What-if-modeller’s forum based on a MiG-21 with side-air-intakes and a radome similar to the original Super-7 proposal !
CHeers, Deino
Well done Deino!! I’ve made the “fake” myself, using MS Paint, then taking a photo of my computer’s screen with a digital camera (this explain why it looks so much like a real-world photo).
Ysi Maniac (AkA Carlos M.) is a very talented modellers…
For info, Martel (and its ARMAT improved variant) have been withdrawn in 1996…
Yep I saw what Royal said. Don’t forget that Sarko was not very warm about the 2nd carrier 3 months ago, but he changed its mind (no there’s nothing nasty nor polemic in my sentence).
Problem is the PA.2 is the “child” of Chirac and Alliot Marie. Alas, both are leaving in may (that’s why they try to “secure” the project by buying catapults, as it was noticed earlier in this thread π ).
thank you very, very much!!!
As Fedaykin mentioned in page 1… the Jag was not well suited for carriers.
The prototype now lay in rochefort Aeronavale museum (they need help, aircrafts are in danger since the storm of december 1999, which damaged their hangar).
According to the website already mentioned, two aircrafts were also considered, the Mirage F1 and Mirage G.
This seem curious, as these two were fighters rather than attack aircrafts… I’m asking if the Aeonavale didn’t want to replace the Crusader by a sole multirole aircraft.
The service already had examined the idea in the late 50’s with the Etendard IV, which was supposed to take interception duties as well… but due to its transsonic performances the Etendard shifted to gound attack when Crusaders entered service in 1965.
don’t trust La Tribune !
You know, according to La tribune, France already sold Rafale to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Marocco… π‘
Main problem would be the new governement cancelling the carrier… but it seems quite unlikely.
Just a question on the french navy…
The Foch and Clemenceau were sisterships, so they were quite similar. But the CVF and Cdg will be quite different… maintenance costs could be high no ? π
Brilliant and fascinating thread! Even if he hate Chirac, I don’t think Sarkozy would scrapp the CVF if he become president in may. But I have to check Segolene’s position on the subject π …
British secret projects (bombers)
Hello! the answer to your question figure in the book mentionned above.
According to Tony buttler, there was only two F-111K. They were stopped, half finished in march 1968, then went into storage before beeing scrapped in July 1969.

At the risk of drifting slightly off-topic, can anyone settle for once and for all the fate of the partly-completed F-111Ks?
There seem to be at least three versions of events:
1) The two TF-111Ks were flown as experimental YF-111As, and the rest finished as FB-111s.
2) As above, only the YF-111As were completed but never flown.
3) The whole lot were scrapped, as there were too many detail differences with USAF-spec F-111s, although smaller components may have crept into USAF machines. One source has it that an outer wing was used to repair a damaged F-111E.
Somone must know for certain?

Topic resurrection
Ok, I know this topic is three years old but I need to know about the radar.
I found photos on the web of a model which aparently was at Farnborough 1990. Below the wings are Super-530 AAM (and Magic on wingtips).
does this indicate a french radar ? at the time, radar able to guide Super-530 would have been
– Cyrano IV (Mirage F1C-200)
– RDM (first batch of Mirage 2000)
– RDI (second batch)
