If you want a very ugly dassault design, browse “Etendard IV” on google… 🙂
I think Ouragan , Mystere II and IV were ugly. After the SMB2, things are better… 🙂
I heard of the ECA is tony Butler’s book British fighter projects. It was the first atempt in the way to the Typhoon… It take nearly 10 years (1978-1987!) to launch the program. And of course, Dassault manage to convince the french governement to pull out…
Twenty years later, the Typhoon, backed by FOUR countries, FOUR air forces was sold to Austria, Saudi Arabia and others. But there’s no order for the lonely Rafale…

Incredibly, twenty years after, Dassault launch an… european collaboration for the Neuron UCAV!!!

You mean they wanted to bring back two Ouragan to flying condition in 2001? The Ouragan was so solid and reliable…

Very nice… in the magazine I red they talked about Palacios.
I think it will be fantastic if some of the Ouragans can be saved. These airplanes are historic :
    – MD450 Ouragan was the first GOOD french jet in 1949 (others were crap)
    – These Ouragans made two wars with Israel (1956 suez crisis, 1967 Six-days war)
    – They were the last to fly in El Salvador until the 90’s.
I remember in the article Savadorian pilots were impressed by the strength of the Ouragan’s wings : they said that “those wings were so strong that we could cut trees with it…” (esas alas eran tan solidas que podemos cortar arboles con ellas)

yes that’s clear yoy website is enormous – you could spend half of your life traducing it manually-. so an automatic translator will be better. I hope it will be better than the google translator (I have a lot of fun with it, particularly from english to french…)

FAS (Fuerza Aera Salvadorena). In the Illopango air base, there’s some wreckages of
    – Fouga Magister
    -MD450 Ouragan
    -B26 Invader
    and also Bell UH-1 and C47 dakota…

I red an article in august 1998 “le fana de l’aviation” about these airplanes.
I heard they had also Fouga Magister, and of course A37 Dragonfly, as many South american countries…
apparently, in january 1981 an ouragan shot down a light aircraft suspect to bring arms to the guerrilla. It was the only air-to-air victory of this civil war.
It’s interesting to see how israel sold its old french jet to south america
    – mirage III to argentina
    – SMB-2 (with J52 engine) to Honduras
    -Ouragan to el Salvador
Anyone know why the Mysteres IV were not sold to south america as the other french-israeli fighter bombers?
(The vautour too but that was quiet predictible (big, obsolete bomber in few numbers…)
Apparently a salvadorian Ouragan flew for the last time in august 1989. This is the last flight of any Ouragan/mystere type, 40 years after the first prototype…

Terran, the old cruiser “Colbert” is in Bordeaux; he has been converted to a museum ten years ago, but this is near bankrupcy today…
I think it will be sold for scrap.
I thought, too of the museum idea but I think the ship is too big or complicated…and you need a 300m dock to put it. anyone has other idea?

I suggest : put it in the middle of the ocean, and use it as target.
Imagine the advert : “You are angry at france. You want to shoot a french boat? The old battle flag of french navy, the aircraft carrier Clemenceaun is waiting for your missiles!!!
