Wow. There’s so much small satellite launchers… the market is going to explode!! I saw similar projects with MIG-31, Tu-160, C-130, C-5A An-124 A-300… Have you see the difficulties of Falcon? the launch is late, four weeks more…

Please Matej if you have more drawings of this kind (particularly french projects Dassault and others), put them here on this topic!! Or I give you my E-mail adress…
(If that don’t cause problems of course)
    Thank you!!

Sorry. I wanted to say : all the mirage who flew + those who were built, but never flew.
If I included the projects… my room is full of 160 models or so 🙁
    superMirage = ACF. I made it !!
    Matej, I didn’t know the MegaMirage but it look like a MIG(rage)-25 🙂 .
I had heard that the M53 engine was for Mach3 fighters on the drawing board at the beginning of the 70’s, but I had never seen it. So thank you very much!!! You are very, very well documented!!
But that’s not a Mirage anymore : look at the air intakes! No shock cones… 🙂
I know from which magazine it comes : “aviation magazine”, june 1969.
“Le fana de l’aviation” from July 2004 brief talk about this project..
Vega ECM what you say is very interesting… I think I will google a bit.
The CEAT is the place where structures are tested to their limits…

No, the F18L was NOT the YF-17 it was a land-based version of the F-18, but this was still a F-18, not a return to the YF-17!! I mean, bigger wing, more powerful engines, etc.

And yes, the F18L for USAF is a good choice, too… the great idea is to make a land-based version of the Navy fighters (Tomcats and Hornets) and throw away F-16 and Eagles!!

Ok so there’s a problem with technology tranfers from the USA to Great Britain…
that very bad for the JSF, because the aim of this program is to kill the european fighter industry, by pumping R&D funds into the JSF, not in the Neuron for example 🙂 ! The arms to reach this goal are precisley the waivers. UK buy the wivers with its R&D funds… But you can’t do that if you don’t agree to give waivers at the same time!!
I totally agree with tomcats for the USAF it would have been be much simpler than navalizing the Eagle. More, the AWG-9 was a AN/ASG-18 derivative (the YF-12 radar). YF-12 was a USAF program!!
    – with a lighter undercarriage and structure, the USAF Tomcat weight 2 metric tons less.
    – More, it’s TF-30, prone-to-stalling engines are replaced by powerful and reliable
    F-100 (9500 to 10800 kgp of thrust!)
So the Thrust to weight ratio is much better…
    – and the Tomcat flew 18 months earlier : every month count against the powerful MIG-25
The Tomcat was perfectly able to kill MIG-25 (ask the Iranians…)

“the JSF is basically a fighter bomber that has A2A modes, and sacrifices manouvreability for stealth”

I totally agree with that. That’s why I think that the JSF will be no match against a Rafale or Typhoon…

Ok so let’s go for the Sea Typhoon (I saw the name on another thread..logical) on the CVF… if Great Britain cancell it’s order for the F35 (unlikely alas??) . I heard GB was a bit angry about technology transfers from the USA on the JSF program. Do you think it can led to a cancelation of the JSF order ? And on this case what happen? a Sea Typhoon or even Rafale M (a common fighter on both CVFs…) 🙂

Someone ask about gun on fighters (on page 2 if I remenber well…). On the Rafale and Typhoon the gun is below the cockpit, on the left or on the right. On Rafale there’s 125 shells for the gun (not very much alas… 🙁 )

    J-7 = Mirage III
    J-8 = Phantom
    JHC-1 = Su-24
    FC-1 = F-20 Tigershark
    J-10 = F-16 Block50
    and (future) J-12 = F22

So if I understand well China had old J7 and J8 in its air force. OK.
    The “new” designs are
    -FC-1 is for Pakistan,
-FBC-1 is a local equivalent to Tornado (twin-engined heavy fighter-bomber)
    -J-10 is the indigenous fighter
    And other fighter are…
    – J-11 the (foreign) Su-30 Flanker
    – J-12 the future high performances twin-engined fighter…
OK. Is there another chinese fighter-bomber I forget?
