I live in France, 30km from Mont De Marsan. In Mont de Marsan is the CEAM, which is the AdA test center. So we are regularly overfly by Alpha Jets, Mirage F1 and 2000, and probably Rafale. In Cazaux (near bordeaux the twon where I’m student) theres Cazaux munition test center. Regularly, Mirages take off from Mont de Marsan and go to Cazaux.
i regularly drive from Mont de Marsan to Bordeaux and some days ago I was overflied (over the motorways) by two Mirage at full speed… nice sightning!!
50 km near my home in Dax there’s the training school for the french Army’s helicopter (ALAT) so we saw Gazelles regularly.
Apparetly the answer is yes. I red some article on the subject on Air&Cosmos. France and GB have managed to reach an agreement. The only problem is the kind of plane GB want : VTOL JSF or CTOL JSF ? that’s why the carrier could have both skijump and catapult.
The idea is apparently first skijump+ AEW helicopter, then catapult+ E-2 (for Gret Britain). The program depends on the problems on British JSF (waivers)
They have preserved the P.1121 fuselage in cosford? fantastic!! Gret Idea… can the public see it or is it waiting in the dark?
Hello… this thread is nearly two years old, but still interesting…
Really wan to know what the 5000 was!!!
aparently Mirage 1000 was the first name of what become the Mirage 2000 (don’t ask me why!).
Mirage 3000 with RB-199
Mirage 6000 Mi(g)rage -25 :p
This kind of debate is unuseful. I’m not american, but one must admit their enormous superiority in the air battle, based on a golden triangle
– Stealth planes
– Cruises missiles in huges numbers
– Numerical superiority (3000 combat aircrafts).
Its a fact : NO ONE in this planet can resist an american air campaign. Air defense radars and missiles are jammed or smashed before they light, ennemies airplanes are vaporised on tarmac by a hail of cruises missiles, and after that, nothing can counter the stealth bombers and fighters, or the huge number of conventional fighters. END OF THE GAME (even before it starts… for the ennemy!)
This was right for Irak, Serbia, Afghanistan so why not for Iran? as 2000 years ago, no one could resist roman legions because they had THE tactic to smash their ennemies in all conflicts.
Hello!!!
Welcome in the Key publishing aviation forum!!
You’re right, the SR-71 is still the fastest jet in the world for 30 years now. The MiG-31 is far behind at mach2.5, the MiG-25 was just mach3.2 (or more realistically, mach 2.8 after that the engines were destroyed).
Of course, the space ship one flew faster but its clearly a rocket spaceship, not a jet aircraft. The X-15 record is still valid too, at mach 6.7.
hope I answer at your question
cheers, Archibald
Tu-95
According to “Le Fana de l’aviation” from october 1997, the crew of the Tupolev was badly affected by the radiations. They all died of cancers…
No air-to-air victories for france against lybia in the 80’s…
Maybe kobra force is Flogger’s best friend… :p
For France keep the Rafale program, the answer is yes. The program is secure for 5 years; goal is 234 aircrafts for Ada and 60 for French navy. with such quantity, the plane is secured even whithout exports customers…
Do you know what “T mor” means in french ? (“t’est mort!”) ???
“You are dead !!!” So be careful lol :p !!!!
Ah I didn’t know :p :p :p :p :p
Just a question : How about the cargo doors of the A380-800F ? are they similar to the 747’s ? Ie does the nose open like in 747 cargo ?
I like to see some A380-800F in europeans air forces to boost heavy lift capacities (no loan of An-124!)
And? why do say that ?
cheers, Archibaald (just call me Archie)
Please Pepe tell me its not a joke… and be careful about rumors! I would like, too, seeing Rafale in Brazilians markings because it desesperately need exports orders…
Don’t be cruel with us :p
