Stupid really. No proper backup and lost the lot. Doesn’t excuse the vandalism but just proves the need for daily external back up facilities.

Hi Gordon
Have you tried ‘shift+P’ ?
John
Hi Chris
There are literally thousands of addons but I suppose the most popular are the scenery packages. They make FSX look dull by comparison. However, you need to know the Country you will be fling over. There are scenery packages for most of them excepting Africa and Asia.
John
Everything looks fine, but you’re right, the graphics card is not the best although it’ll work ok for a start.
See how you get on, but if you want to go for photo or other high definition scenery and/or purpose made airfields and towns etc., you’ll probably want something better.
Go for at least a 500 mb, preferably 1 GB Nvidia card with the highest number you can afford and get the most up to date driver for it.
Then download Nhancer and up the anisotropic and atialiasing filtering to get the best effects.
John
Yes, that’s right but sometimes they fail to work. When that happens just left click on an empty space like the sky and you’ll find you’ve got them back again.
John
Try ‘Shift+P’

You could try the Learjet. It takes most of the golfers who own them around the world, so I suspect it would be ideal for you. There are reasonable default Learjets in both FS9 & FSX.
By the way, unless you have a really powerful machine, don’t mess with glass cockpits. The instrumentation in the VC’s are quite good enough.
John
If you have FSX – all you need to do is press the ‘V’ key on your keyboard.
John
Your best bet is to go to the learning Centre in Flight Simulator but as a general rule you need to go through the flaps as you descend and full flaps when over the runway.
I don’t know the Logitech equipment but surely there’s an instruction sheet?

Hi Dean
Happy New Year:)
John
I’ve amassed too many Dave so if you live anywhere near Somerset I suspect we could meet somewhere so I could hand them over.
PM me if you’re interested.
John
You don’t actually use the scenery library, it’s there for FSX to use.
All you do is put extra scenery in it or take stuff out of it. But don’t go messing with what’s already there – you need it!
For instance, if you download photographic scenery, it will be placed in there. If you download some airports, you’ll have to add them to it.
There is an explanation in the learning centre.

An easy way in FSX to get the zooms working again is to left click in a blank space on the screen, like the sky, then use the minus (-) key to zoom out and the plus (+) key to zoom in.
John
Hi Dean
Glad to see you’re still about and doing what you love. I’m surprised you have the time for simming.
I rather think you’re wasting your breath here though!;)
All the very best to you.
John
I agree with Dean and the rest, FS9 with your machine is best and for the time being at least is still reasonably well supported by the independant suppliers including some pretty good scenery.
However, it will certainly not be cost effective to buy a new computer, or even update an old one unless you intend then to get FSX. But for that, you really do need a quad core(Q6600 or better), 4GB RAM (or more) and a 1GB nVidia 8800 (or better) graphics card and lastly a 64x Windows Vista OS.
I would say too that if you have the money for all that, FSX is the way to go. It is so much better than FS9 that there’s really no comparison and far more widely supported with addons of real scenery available, much better specified aircraft and weather effects like clouds and water etc.etc.
