Absolutely right GB about the food chain.

If Georgia decides to invade the break away Georgian region of Abkhazia tomorrow, will Russia provide technical support for the legacy Soviet equipment in the Georgian ORBAT?

Is it in Russia’s self interest to help the Georgians? 😉 Was it in US’s self interest to help the Brits or the Argentinians? All actions flows from the self interest rule.

Thou shalt not help anyone that is interfering with or otherwise jeopardizing your own self interest.

RAC-MiG’s new General Director Anatoly Belov, interviewed by Kommersant

    Q. Could the [Russian] Air Force declare a tender for the development of light and medium fighters of the fifth generation soon?

Belov: I assume the one heavy fighter (now being developed by Sukhoi,) will not fulfill all the tasks now before the Air Force [the PAK-FA, which India is to be a partner on]. A plane of a lighter class is objectively necessary, so we continue to work in that area.

Here’s a clarification from the MoD:
Clarification on Delivery of Hawk Aircraft

Regarding the Tejas, after a lot of huffing and puffing, the 414 will be fitted in a later batch. Till then, the IN20 will be the IOC/FOC engines.

Well damn just go down to Langley in June.

I’ve never been to the Langley show. What’re the main differences b/w that and the Andrews’ show?

Langley’s airshow is 21-22 June. And you seem to be up here close to Philly like me, so if you’re taking I-95 all the way down there you’re going the wrong way! Take the eastern shore through Delaware and Maryland, there is a lot less traffic and it’s a shorter drive as well. I can give you directions from the NJ Turnpike if you want, that’s how I get down to Norfolk.

Andrews? Won’t bother with that one, it’s next weekend and I’ll be occupied. Plus I’d have to deal with DC 😀

Hey SOC, why not bother with Andrews? Is the Raptor not supposed to be there? Come down, at least you’ll get to meet me 🙂

Can someone help me out with some of the information i am seeking on the Gripen Demo –

    Internal fuel capacity (max)

Max Engine thrust (both dry and in burners)

    EDIT –

The reason I ask this is because i was watching the Gripen Demo and it was claimed their that the aircraft could supercruise so i looked at some of its no.s then went back to look at the EF typhoon’s nos and became a little interested to see what the F-35 may or may not be able to do .

Did some prelim math and found that –

The EF is claimed to be 60KN in dry thrust per so thats about 27,000 Lb of dry thrust , with an empty weight of 21,500 lb and full fuel capacity of 9900 pounds . With this the EF is claimed to be able to supercruise @ 1.5 (as per scorpion without weapons it can do m.1.5) . That is a T2W ratio of roughly 0.85 when fully dry .

The Performance claims and weight figures of the EF are taken from —–>

    IN COMPARISON

Here are some Gripen Demo numbers, believable or not…

there are 2 BEL Shikari (licene built RAN-trackers) they provide guidance for the main gun as well the ak-630 in the rear. Interesting note is that there is no STGR which indicates that they have integrated to provide command illumination for barak.

    That is interesting.
